Here is a post from Mark Evans, a CAMBA member working on the trails at Fern Park in Inlet. My wife and I have spent a lot of time this summer cleaning up the Fern Park trail system. As of today everything has been cut and cleared (including the two Matt's trail connectors)..... except for the NW perimeter section.......That I'll need help with. If anyone is interested in cleaning that section up, let me know. It's a great advanced/expert section, but needs a lot of work. Mark

Here is a small sample of the McCauley Fat Fest Race Course. A group of us rode it today and can report that it is in great condition. The loop will also be a group ride option.

Wondering if it would be possible to upload trail maps to the new IMBA MTB Project website. I'm down in Pennsylvania but tell friends about trails up in Adiron...dacks. On indicated to me that the only trails in ADK on MTB Project are up in Lake Placid. As the site continues to grow, it can certainly serve as a marketing tool to sell the area and the number of trails. Next time I ride up there I'll try to record my ride and upload. Others can try to. There is now a MTB Project app for phones which sounds really good. I'm going to check it out. See more

Community input is being asked for during a workshop at the Old Forge Library on Wednesday, February 25 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The workshop is being hosted joint...ly by the Great South Woods and Adirondack Community Trails & Lodging projects. During the workshop, participants will use large format maps to share their knowledge of recreation destinations and existing infrastructure on public and private lands. Participants will also be asked to sketch out and propose inprovements to existing trails, new trails and other infrastructure that would connect recreational opportunities on State lands with community-based lodging and other regional amenities and features. The Great South Woods project is a collaboration between SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry (ESF), the Department of Environmental Conservation, local government, and the Adirondack Park Agency. ESF is leading the participatory process and computer mapping aspects of this project, which seeks to identify a system of trails and associated recreational infrastructure that could significantly enhance outdoor experiences for recreation in this region of the Park. Find out more here: http ://www . esf . edu/aec/greatsouthwoods/ The Adirondack Community Trails & Lodging System is an initiative funded by the NYS Department of State, and seeks to identify opportunities to connect communities by trails for selfpowered users and identify existing lodging facilities, as well as stratigic locations for future lodging. Find out more here: http ://www . adirondacktrailsandlodging . org For planning purposes, please contact CAP-21 at 315-369-3353 or [email protected] to confirm your participation.

As of now, CAMBA is going to have a Fat Bike event the weekend of March 21-22 (not sure which day). Want to get involved, e-mail us at [email protected]. Help us grow cycling year round in our area. Going forward after this year, we have had discussions of tying together 3 events for next winter. McCauley in January, Heilberg Forest in February, and Winona Forest in March. Having some type of series, points etc. This will also allow us to have common marketing, sponsors, registration etc. and will help bring attention to this sport. Thanks for your support. Chuck
