CVRS COVID-19 Testing Site - Beginning 2/18 The Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, with the assistance of Washington County Public Health and Public Safety, has established a COVID-19 Rapid Testing Site at its Education Center, 33F Gilbert Street, Cambridge. CVRS has secured all required approvals from New York State Department of Health and will be conducting rapid testing for residents of Washington County. The testing site will be open Thursdays 3:00 to 7:00 pm, Fridays 10:00... am to 2:00 pm, and Saturdays 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, by appointment only. Rapid tests will be performed at the site and results will be provided at the time of the test. All results will be entered into the New York State’s Electronic Clinical Laboratory Reporting System and all positive results will also be forwarded to Washington County Public Health. There is no charge for the testing, however, CVRS will be conducting a small fundraising event to raise funds to procure more testing supplies. This will include a donation box at the testing site, a donation link on our Facebook page (coming soon), and the option to send a directed donation to our station via mail. To schedule an appointment, call the CVRS COVID Testing Hotline at 518-222-8502 or send an email request to [email protected]. You will be contacted by a team member within 24 hours to schedule the appointment. CVRS is excited to be able to provide this service to the residents of the County!

Today three of our paramedics (Mark Spiezio, Patrick Cruger, and Adrienne Hamilton) worked with public health to begin administering covid vaccinations to the home bound population in Washington county. Over the next few weeks paramedics from the Washington County EMS Vaccination team will continue to go out a couple days a week to bring the vaccination to those who can’t leave their homes. We’re so proud of our medics for their participation in this work to #getshotsinarms #therewhenyouneedus #cambridgeems #washingtoncountyemsvaxteam #teamwork

We have received 500 Covid rapid tests from NY State Department of Health! Currently we continue to only have testing on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, but we are working to have more availability in the coming weeks. As a reminder, we continued to provide this service free of charge to the community. Please consider a donation if you schedule a test or if you'd like to see us continue to offer this service. #therewhenyouneedus #cambridgeems #covidtesting #washingtoncountyny

Since opening our Covid rapid testing site a couple of weeks ago we have been very busy! So busy that we have worked through the majority of our testing supplies. However, we are planning to continue to provide this service to the community as the last few weeks have shown it is needed. We are currently working through county and state health resources to obtain more testing supplies, but they are not as readily available as we had initially expected. The alternative is t...o start purchasing testing supplies through our medical equipment providers. Each test costs about $27. We are currently providing this service free of charge and are not able to bill insurance companies for reimbursement. If you are able, please consider making a directed donation to CVRS covid testing or make a donation when you get a test done. Your support will allow us to continue to provide testing services. Every Christmas Eve since 1994, Communications Officer Art Porlier has been manning a desk in the Washington County Department of Public Safety Communications C...enter, handling emergency calls and activity as he does every other day of the year. On Christmas Eve, he receives a special assignment to the "North Pole" desk and is tasked with monitoring the activity of a certain individual () and his red sleigh... relaying the important information for those "who need to know". Want to Listen In? The annual "North Pole Alerts" will be broadcast throughout the evening as time and activity allow via our Fire & EMS Alert frequency and on our online scanner: http://bit.ly/WashCoNYDPSScanner NOTE: North Pole alerts are broadcast as time and activity allow and may need to be suspended or discontinued at any point as we continue to serve the needs of our communities and First Responders. #washingtoncountyny #northpolealerts #viewfromthecomm #clausporlier

Over the past few weeks we have welcomed three new members to CVRS. Dylan Pettersen recently completed the EMT course that we hosted and decided to join here. He’s obtained his EMT certification and we are excited to have him as part of the team. Morgan Pratico comes to us with very little EMS experience, but we’re excited to show her the ropes and have her on the team. ... Destiny Peters is a returning member who started her EMS career with CVRS. After some time away she’s returned and we’re happy to have her back! Please join us in welcoming these new and returning members to CVRS! #therewhenyouneedus #cambridgeny #cambridgevalleyrescuesquad #volunteers
