Zion Devotions 26Oct2020 Turbulent Times... Be still and know that I AM God. Psalm 46:10 Often during flying in stormy weather, the aircraft experiences turbulence. Turbulence is violent or unsteady movement caused by wind or water. As soon as there is any turbulence, all passengers are requested to sit down and put their seat belts on. While the pilot tries to fly through the storm and amidst the strong winds, the passengers just sit there and trust the pilot to maneuver the plane through the storm and out of it. Often it is a fearful situation as passengers do not have any control over what is going around; all they have is their seat belt holding them down tight and their hope in the Pilot to land them safely. With everything going on around the world and in our personal lives, many of us feel like we are caught in turbulence as we are passing through the storm. We feel scared and don’t know what to do as the plane of our life seems to be going up and down, high and low, and not in any particular direction. We also feel helpless as we don’t have control over what is going on. Although, we may not have control over our turbulent life, God does! He is the Pilot who is flying us through the storm. It does not help if we remove the seatbelt and try to get up to take control of the plane. Nor does it do any good for us to worry, grumble or scream. It only hurts us and makes matters worse when we try to handle it ourselves. Therefore, we must allow the expert to do His job and not come in His way. As difficult as it seems to be still when we are caught in an unsteady place in life, truly the only option we have is to be still and know that God is with us and let Him handle it. We need to sit quietly, put on the seatbelt of faith and trust God to take us through the turbulence and land us safely out of the storm. Dear LORD, as scary as the turbulence is around me, please help me to be still and hold on to You. I may not understand what is going on but You are in full control of every situation of my life so increase my confidence that You are with me and will lead me to safe landing on the other side of the storm. Thank you for Your protection as we pass through the storm together. In Jesus’ name, Amen! Written by - Cleris Christian

Zion Devotions 23Oct2020 *Focus on Blessings, not sorrows*... They forgot what he had done, the wonders he had shown them. Psalm 78:11 It’s our human tendency to think more negatively than positive. We often fear about what can go wrong instead of what can go right. We fuss about what we did not get instead of what we did get. We complain about that one wrong thing that happened to us or done to us by some body than to remember all the good things that did happen. We usually use these as an excuse to pity ourselves about how much hardships we faced or how mistreated we were. God certainly understands our pain, He does not downplay them and there is nothing wrong in recalling our hardships, but God has taught us to not dwell only on the negative aspects of everything. We must count our blessings more than our sorrows. Sorrowful situations are inevitable in our lives as they are meant to strengthen us and our walk with God. But by constantly focusing on the negatives rather than the positives, we undermine God’s power and goodness in our lives. He knows what He is doing so what we consider bad, may actually be a blessing in disguise. We need to constantly remember the good things that the LORD has done for us and focus on those so that when hardships do strike us, we can recall how mighty our God is and how He delivered us out of it previously. This helps increase our faith that just how God delivered us the last time, He will do it again. Therefore, when we think or talk about our past, let us focus more about the blessings which God has graced us with rather than what He has not. Dear LORD, please teach me to think about all the good that has happened to me rather than complaining about what did not happen. Help me to be grateful for the little blessings and see Your hand in all that I have. May I also be thankful for those situations and things that did not go well according to my understanding as they taught me to rely on You more and learn more of Your decrees and ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen! Written by - Cleris Christian

Zion Devotions 21Oct2020 For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Psalm 149:4... *Due Honor* When we are aware of our need for God and His intervention in all that way do, He works on our behalf and aligns things and people to work in our favor. God allows His favor to rest on others to rest on us so that in the end, everything just falls in its place at the right time and right way. God loves to bless us because He loves us so much and wants us to live to the fullest. He rejoices in our happiness and takes delight in giving us the best of best. However, we often become too arrogant and leave God out of the picture by trying to figure things out on our own and taking credit for our success instead of giving God the due honor. When we leave God out of anything, He steps aside and remains silent to let us struggle on our own until we realize our need for God and reach out to Him for help. However, when we do place God first and submit all that we do in His hands, He goes ahead of us to make our path straight and leads us to places and new heights which we would never have thought possible. God puts His hand of favor on us and gives us the honor which others can see when we choose to honor God with our life. Dear LORD, thank you for taking delight in me even when I am not delightful. Thank you for not holding my sins against me and treating me accordingly. I deserve nothing but punishment instead You crown me with honor. Please help me to return the favor and crown You the LORD of my life and live in such a way that brings You honor and glory through me. In Jesus’ name, Amen! Written by - Cleris Christian

Zion Devotions 19Oct2020 Enough to conquer... Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20 Like David who faced Goliath, we all have a giant in our lives who we need to fight against. Our Goliath can be a circumstance that we think is too big for us and impossible to defeat. People around us, or our own wisdom may discourage us from going up against the enemy but if we take courage in our God like David did and be confident that God will deliver, we can face the giant without fear. Just as David took a sling shot and a few stones that fit in the palm of his hand, God can do a mighty miracle with the little that we have to offer. Our faith may not be as strong as someone else’s nor our prayers as powerful, but God will accept and do with whatever we can give. Sometimes all we have is little faith, but little faith is all we need. God only expects faith as small as mustard seed. And if we are willing to offer our little faith, God can do a lot with it. Therefore, to stand up against whatsoever we are facing, we need to give to God whatever energy, faith, and prayer we have to offer. When we call out to God for help with a humble heart and a contrite spirit, He takes our weakness and turns it into His strength through whom we can overcome. Dear LORD, oftentimes I feel weak and incapable of facing my giants. But please help me to understand that my confidence is in You, not in myself. Teach me to take the focus off my incapability and turn my eyes on You and allow You to fight the battle for me. I give You my stones of little faith and insecurity, please take them and turn them into mighty weapons to slay the giants in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen! Written by - Cleris Christian
