POACHING!! Caught a poacher's fish trap in my anchor yesterday. It had about 20 short blackfish in it. I opened the trap, released the fish. So if you wonder why the Blackfish regs are so stringent, maybe you should ask the DEC what they are doing about the poachers.

The charter boat business is very competitive and there are a lot of attempts to sabotage the competition in one way or another. One such way is leaving negative reviews for the business. There is a lot of published discussion about this. All you have to do is Google it. Generally these are done by frightened little people who think they can boost their own business by denigrating others. I have now had 2 negative reviews from people who I don't know and who have never set f...oot on the boat and who I have never spoken or done business with. Once such post accused me of being a fraud and scam artist but did not go into detail. Since Facebook does not allow the removal of such comments the only recourse that a business has is to obtain information about the poster and litigate for libel and slander. The NYS appellate courts have just ruled that this information can be obtained from Facebook by subpoena. If someone has had a bad experience on my boat, let them post it with their real name. I will own it if it's true, otherwise if it's false, I will retain counsel, subpoena the information as to who the author REALLY is (usually verifiable by a phone number) and litigate against them. These actions are necessary because Facebook will not address it on their own, but they too will be involved in litigation for allowing falsehoods to be published.
