Groovy Chalet

We here at the Groovy Chalet would like to honor former New York Yankee Pitcher Jim Bouton who passed away this week. Jim is better known for his authorship of "Ball Four" the iconoclastic 1970 book that blew the doors of secrecy off of clubhouse culture and established a new literary genre: the sports tell-all. In honor of Jim, we have added Ball Four to our nostalgic literature collection for the weekend. And we are also pleased to be offering Big League Chew, a brand of gum that he started, as one of our groovy snacks! Rest in Peace, Jim!! And you might want to avoid Mickey Mantle if you cross paths with him in the afterlife. Perhaps you two can kiss and make up over a cold one!!

Spring is a-poppin' at the Groovy Chalet! Our memorial weekend guests had a good time around the old campfire and Memorial Day itself was one of the nicest days of the year yet. Summer is starting to book up and we expect June-August to go fast. So come on up and get it!!

Well, Winter '18-'19...it was nice snowin' ya! But ski season in the Great Western Catskills is done and the transition to warm weather operations is upon us. That means, out with the Ski decor and in with the Spring stuff. Damian's ski season ended prematurely due to a herniated disc, but he did manage to rock the pain meds for the changeover. While April is already booked....May is wide open!! These are our traditionally 'slow' months, so you might wanna take advantage of those cheap-ass rates. And if we REALLY love ya....freebies abound.

Well, this is the view that our intrepid skiers got over coffee this morning before they headed out to get the goods at Belleayre! These guys picked a great weekend, which saw 1.5 feet of of snow visit our lodging partners at the Belle and Platekill. It's been a fine March up here and we have to wonder if this weekend was the last hurrah for powder skiing in the Catskills. Is it time to shift our attention to Spring and Summer operations? Stay tuned!

Someone who KNOWS that winter isn't over is gonna have some fun this weekend! February is here and these folks are coming up to ski and groove to our new mid century end tables! Our veneer game gets stronger and February is almost completely booked, so don't be a damn fool! Get up here and get your ski on, bitches!!
