The Emergency Benefit component of the Heating and Energy Assistance (HEAP) program will open on Monday, January 4, 2021. The Emergency Benefit will be authorized for those HEAP eligible households that can document that a heating/utility emergency exists. An emergency is defined as those households that are threatened with a heat/utility shut-off or their utility service is already off, there is less than 25% fuel left in oil/propane/kerosene tanks, or there is less than a 10 day supply of wood/wood pellets/coal. The Agricultural Districts Law was created in 1971 to encourage the continued use of farmland for agricultural production. Two Compost Facilities Temporarily Closed Please be advised that on or about October 5, 2020 the Yard Waste Compost Facilities located on the closed landfill sites located on Farwell Road in the Town Ischua, aka Farwell Compost Facility and Toad Hollow Road in the Town of Mansfield, aka Five Points Compost Facility, have been secured and are unavailable to the public for use on a temporary basis. Road Closure: East Hill Road, County Road 63, Towns of Franklinville and Lyndon, October 22 through October 28 The Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works will be closing County Road 63, also known as East Hill Road in the Towns of Franklinville and Lyndon, between Raub Road and Abbott Road, for the replacement of cross culverts. This closure will be from October 22 through 28. An off-site detour will be posted for vehicular traffic.
