Community College Undergraduate Research Initiative

The Sargassum Podcast is looking for a community college student to fill a new "Environmental Communications Coordinator" Internship position. This is a remote internship, 5-20 hours per week for a minimum of 8 weeks. Additional info: https://marinefrontiers.org/sargassum

COVID has changed the timeline, but FLCC students are finally able to start their work on optimizing the production of polysaccharides in a submerged fermentation of mushroom mycelium. These complex polysaccharides have been the focus of numerous studies that have shown significant positive impacts on the immune system.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE SPECIAL ISSUE: CBE Life Sciences Education (LSE; http://www.lifescied.org/) will publish a special issue in 2022 highlighting research articles, essays, and features that amplify the voices of community college students, instructors, researchers, and authors. Applications are being accepted for this chemistry research opportunity for community college students at Old Dominion University. This 10 week experience comes with travel support, housing, and a $5,000 stipend. https://www.odureu.org/chem

PRECS: Phenotypic Plasticity Research Experience for Community College Students is an opportunity for 10 community college students to conduct research for 10 weeks during the summer. PRECS is a collaboration between the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, located in Urbana, IL, and Parkland College, located Champaign, IL. Applications are being accepted now.
