Practice Update: COVID-19 We are taking every step necessary to protect our patients and our team during this pandemic. Our Centereach office is closed this week due to a potential exposure from an individual with COVID-19 to our team. Our Shirley office is open and the Shirley team is working extra hard. Our providers (Dr. Shah, Dr. Mayer, NPs-Janet, Desirie, Ilyse and PA-Marty) are available for video appointments on TeleHealth platform.... Our office is getting a lot of phone calls asking about the use of nose sprays and asthma inhalers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Here is Dr. Shah’s answer for you: With the COVID-19 pandemic coinciding with the Spring allergy season, you may be concerned about using your intranasal corticosteroids for nasal allergies and your inhaled corticosteroids for your asthma. There is no data that continuing these allergy and asthma medications will have any effect on increasing your... risk of getting the COVID-19 infection or if you get the infection, lead to a worse outcome. It is important to control your allergy and asthma symptoms as they may lead to misdiagnosis of COVID-19 as there are some overlap of symptoms.
