We appreciate the work that the larger TGNC community accomplishes to make it easier for our patients to thrive! Even though CTC is a medical clinic, our Transhealth Navigators use these resources to stay informed and refer our patients to these services so every need is met. #TransLivesMatter #TransRightsAreHumanRights #CenterForTranscare

Every December 1st, awareness is raised on the existence and social impact of the AIDS pandemic. Mourning and memorials are had in honor of the 32.7 million [24.8 million42.2 million] people who have died from AIDS-related illnesses since its onset (See, here: 2019 UNAIDS GLOBAL HIV STATISTICS: https://www.unaids.org/en/resources/fact-sheet). . We would like to take the opportunity to educate our followers on the harm inflicted on transgender women, particularly black and Hi...spanic transgender women in the US. The CDC reports 44% of transgender women infected with HIV were Black/African American and 26% were Hispanic/Latino last year. (See stats, here: https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/group/gender/transgender/index.html) . With stats like this, we can sympathize with Phoebe’s sentiment. Please view the powerful dialogue between her and other women featured by the Greater Than AIDS campaign, here: https://www.greaterthan.org/stories-empowered-trans-women/ . Finally, World AIDS Day is meant to also celebrate the many scientific innovations and feats achieved by the global community, which serve in lessening the spread of HIV. We have made amazing strides in prevention and anti-retroviral therapies that prolong the lives of millions. CTC is another community resource meant to empower the LGBT community in Queens and Long Island to have normal lives and better protect themselves and their partners.

Filmed over five years in Kansas City, Missouri, Transhood chronicles the lives of four young people (aged 4, 7, 12, and 15 at the start of filming) and their families as they navigate growing up transgender in America’s heartland. By sharing personal realities of how #genderexpression is reshaping their lives, the film explores how these families struggle and stumble through parenting, and how the kids are challenged and transformed as they experience the complexity of their identities. https://www.hbo.com/documentaries/transhood
