Chemung County Sheriff's Office 02.01.2021

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of 54 year old KENNETH T. GOOD, of Lynwood Ave, Elmira Heights, NY. On July 22, 2020, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a burglary that occurred at the Sparkle Clean Laundry and Dry Cleaners, located at 1905 Grand Central Avenue in the Town of Horseheads. Deputies learned that the business had been entered during overnight hours and money was stolen. As a result of the investigation, GOO...D was indicted by Grand Jury and a Superior Court Warrant for the charge of Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony, was issued for his arrest. Deputies arrested GOOD on the outstanding warrant and GOOD was remanded to the Chemung County Jail pending arraignment in Chemung County Court.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of JACKLYN L. WALKER, 35, of 277 Wall Street, Corning New York. WALKER was arrested on a warrant out of the Town of Southport for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and as a Fugitive from Justice out of the Tioga County Probation and Parole Department, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, for Accident Involving Death or Personal Injury. WALKER was arraigned on both charges and remanded to the Chemung County Jail awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Pistol Permit Office has created a separate on-line calendar for applicants to sign up for an appointment to pick up their Pistol Permit Applications. Please see the link below to access this feature. The fee for each application is $15.00 and we ask to please have exact change. This new calendar is strictly for those persons who wish to pick up an application packet, not for any other business related to Pistol Permits. This new procedure will he...lp better serve the citizens while still conforming to the guidelines of COVID 19. This opens up more appointments for regular Pistol Permit business as well as to expedite the process in which applicants can obtain the application packet. We are also diligently working on moving forward with the Pistol Permit Classes. Please keep checking this site for updates. Due to our new procedure, those persons looking to get on the calendar for an appointment for regular Pistol Permit business should check that calendar as more spots open every day. Chemung County Sheriff's Office 21.10.2020

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of 21 year old Town of Southport resident Katie L. Messina for Falsely reporting an incident in the third degree. On October 13, 2020 Deputies were dispatched to Sherman Avenue in the Town of Southport for a report of a robbery and assault that was alleged to have occurred at Universal Park. Deputies spoke with Messina who reported that a male subject attempted to rob her and the two became involved in a physical alte...rcation, during which Messina reports being cut with a knife. Messina had a superficial laceration and was treated at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Deputies and investigators conducted an investigation into incident and learned that the incident did not occur. There is no danger to the public. Messina has been arrested for one count of Falsely reporting an incident in the third degree. She has been released on an appearance ticket and will be arraigned in the Town of Southport Court at a later date.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for a white male with brown hair and beard that was in the area of the old Classic Café at 805 Pennsylvania Ave., in the Town of Southport, on September 27, see attached photo. He was believed to be riding a large blue bicycle. He is wanted for questioning relative to a burglary investigation. Anyone with information, or believes they may know either of these individuals, is asked to contact the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at (607)737-2933.
