Cypress Hills, East New York Coalition Inc. 14.12.2020

On Friday August 7th, 2020 Cypress Hills East New York Coalition ( C.H.E.N.Y. )and its supporters fed over 200 local residents of East New York. Those who waited on line received food packages containing; fresh vegetables and fruits, a container of milk, pasta and pasta sauce, canned vegetables and ravioli, a container of oat and a box of NYC 3-Day prepared meals. C.H.E.N.Y. is a group of local residents, businesses and organizations that provide assistance to the residents o...f Cypress Hills and East New York. Through donations we're able to provide food to those in need. We'd like to thank Filco Carting Corp. for their continued support over the past few months. Filco Carting has donated the time of several of their workers to help work the food pantry and has assisted with building relationships with local businesses to further our shared goals. We'd like to thank the Cypress Hills for their weekly food donations from local supermarkets. Our work-force is made entirely of volunteers and we thank each and everyone of them for donating their time and energy. Much of the food is delivered individually and our volunteers help bag all the items into food packages. We'd like to thank The Knights of Columbus Council #197 for sending some of their Knights each week to help with the food pantry. See more

On Friday, July 17th C.H.E.N.Y. and it's partners made history by providing the most amount of food per person to date. This week we were able to provide boxes containing 9 premade meals; 3 Breakfast, 3 Lunch & 3 Dinner meals. We also had black bagged packages of 3 different types of salads, and white bagged packages of ready-to-heat up meals. For the first time, our regular clear bagged packages included small bottles of cooking oil; perfect for use of our older residents wh...o have issues pouring large heavy bottles of liquids. Our new local business partner, @universecitynyc donated individual sized boxes containing a watermelon, bag of potatoes, squash and more. Universe City is owned and operated by local residents with years of family and business ties to Brownsville and East New York. They are building an aquaponic farm to grow vegetables that will be fed to local residents. Together we fed over 110 residents of the community that are in need. Local residents who were lined up also received bags of rice, string beans, plantains, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, onions, peaches, and cans of mixed vegetables, ravioli, coconut milk, eggs, bottles of seasoning and dessert pastries. None of this would be possible without the donations from our partners like @filcocarting and the labor from our volunteer staff. We thank everyone for helping make this week's food pantry the biggest to date. We are also thankful for our partnership with James Giustizia from Cubes R Us @iceinnewyork located at 1100 Loring Avenue Brooklyn Ny 11208 for his weekly support. If you would like to join our partners and donate food, goods or your time, please email us at [email protected] or send us a direct message to our facebook page. https://www.instagram.com/p/CDDLex3BX7v/?igshid=1n3bdr127ww7

On Friday, July, 3rd. C.H.E.N.Y. and its partners provided food packages to 150 residents of East New York. This week's food package included cereal, milk, bread, fresh vegetables, premade meals and other treats. Due to a new relationship with the ASPCA and our ongoing partnership with Third Day Missions, we are able to offer bags of dog & cat food. By providing pet food, we can relieve one expense from struggling families. We thank everyone who's chosen to wear face masks ov...er the past several months as together we have flattened the curve of the global virus that has put a strain on the world. As New York City has begun reopening, we have seen a decline in the number of families that are in need of food assistance. But as cases decrease, businesses open and workers go back to earning a paycheck, there will still be a need for C.H.E.N.Y. 's assistance to the community. We are committed to helping our community now and always. If you would like to join with us by donating food or volunteering your time to help with the food pantry, please email us at [email protected] We are still actively building relationships with local organizations to help bring food to those in need and we hope to announce a new partnership soon. https://www.instagram.com/p/CCZDo_ShX-B/?igshid=4i0stq8ywspe
