Dear Child Health Associates Parents, We regret to inform you that Kristin Tooker, FNP is no longer with our practice. Unfortunately, due to the current healthcare environment we were unable to sustain her employment. Please know the quality of her work was outstanding and we will miss her dearly! We are asking that you contact our office as soon as possible to choose a new primary care provider. (This pandemic has been a very trying time for everyone and every business.... We are in the process of sending letters to Kristin's patients) Stay safe

We are encouraging patients to come in for their well child visits. We have split the office in two - one side for sick children and the other half for well children. We continue to have patients check in by phone when you pull in and a nurse will call you back when she has an exam room available (the waiting room area will remain closed). We are asking that parents and children over the age of 2 wear a mask. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Stay safe everyone!

Hello CHA friends. The doctors have decided that we will be rescheduling all well child appointments except for babies due for vaccines. In this ever changing time we feel this is the best decision for our patients. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Hello CHA Patients! :) .... In an effort to try to prevent the spread of germs as much as possible - until further notice we will continue to have patients check in for their appointments by phone when you pull in to our parking lot and we will call you when the nurse has a room ready for you. We have a sick section and a well section so we will be asking any recheck patients and well child patients if they are experiencing any illness. Thank you for your cooperation and patience!

We have temporarily changed our check in procedure for appointments. We are asking that you call our office from the parking lot to check in. A member of our s...taff will call you when an exam room is available. We are disinfecting rooms after every patient, removed toys/books as well in an effort to reduce the spread of all illnesses. Lots of flu continues to go around. Flu symptoms include: A sudden fever (usually above 101F or 38.3C)... Chills and body shakes Headache, body aches, and being a lot more tired than usual Sore throat Dry, hacking cough Stuffy, runny nose Some children may throw up (vomit) and have loose stools (diarrhea). After the first few days of these symptoms, a sore throat, stuffy nose, and continuing cough become most evident. The flu can last a week or even longer. A child with a common cold usually has only a low-grade fever, a runny nose, and only a small amount of coughing. Children with the fluor adults, for that matterusually feel much sicker, achier, and more miserable. Children with chronic health conditions at greater risk: Children who appear to have the greatest risk of complications from the flu are those with an underlying chronic medical condition, such as lung, heart, or kidney disease, an immune system problem, diabetes mellitus, some blood diseases, or malignancy. As these children may have more severe disease or complications, they should be vaccinated and, when possible, avoid other children with the flu or flu-like symptoms. Their pediatrician may suggest additional precautions that should be taken. If your child has any of these chronic health conditions and flu-like symptoms along with any difficulty breathing, seek medical attention right away. There can be serious complications, even death, from the flu, but thanks to the flu vaccine these are less common. See Flu: A Guide for Parents of Children and Adolescents with Chronic Health Conditions. Flu treatment Children may benefit from extra rest and drinking lots of fluids when they get the flu. If your child is uncomfortable because of a fever, acetaminophen or ibuprofen in doses recommended by your pediatrician for his age and weight will help him feel better. Ibuprofen is approved for use in children six months of age and older; however, it should never be given to children who are dehydrated or who are vomiting continuously. It is extremely important never to give aspirin to a child who has the flu or is suspected of having the flu. Aspirin during bouts of influenza is associated with an increased risk of developing Reye syndrome.
