Excited to announce Student & Player of the Month for November!

The Battle of Brooklyn is back, in a new, virtual format for 2020! The event kicks off tomorrow and we will crown our champions after the Finals Showdown on 12/13. Each month, our staff nominates a Player & Student of the Month. The award goes to two team members who have excelled and worked hard to improve their academics and squash skills. We may be mostly virtual this fall but the focus of our academic sessions hasn’t changed! Team members are honing their writing skills through The Writing Revolution curriculum, reading & receiving school support. We couldn’t be doing it without the support of our dedicated volunteers in all of our academic sessions as well! Interested in seeing what we’re reading this fall? The first Dialectical Thinking skill in our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculum is Emotion Regulation! Our activity to put Emotion Regulation to practice helps set goals that increase positive emotions and build resilience. As we continue with remote programming this fall our squash sessions look a bit different. Our goal is to explore the mental aspect of playing & improve our team members’ racquet & ball control skills. Although we can’t wait to get on court, we’re excited to be strengthening these skills in the meantime! #citysquashstrong

We’re excited to introduce our Alumni Board, who will be working closely with our staff to establish more forums for deliberate conversations on race, help make the CitySquash experience as equitable as possible & increase alumni engagement. We’re excited to work with them and offer our next generation of CitySquashers the best programming we can! #citysquashstrong
