Defending their Section VI 4400-meter title became impossible for the Clarence girls indoor track athletes who achieved it last year, as Section VI officials last week decided to outright cancel the 2020-21 season due to concerns related to COVID-19.

In Clarence, district officials hope to meet New York state’s new school testing requirements by Friday in an effort to reopen to in-person instruction on Monday, Dec. 14. This time, officials hope that the reopening marks a more permanent one.

Clarence’s cross-country program capped its 2020 season in style by claiming both the boys’ and girls’ Section VI Class A championships for the first time since 2013 with their winning performances at Bemus Point Golf Course.
