ROCKLAND COUNTY MAN INDICTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced the indictment of a Rockland County man for att...empted murder stemming from a December incident involving a female victim who was slashed multiple times to her neck area by the defendant. The defendant, Gurdath Mahadeo, 55, of Rockland County, attempted to kill a female victim by slicing her multiple times in the neck with a knife requiring immediate life-saving treatment at a hospital. The defendant was charged with attempted murder 2nd, which carries a mandatory determinate sentence of imprisonment from 5 to 25 years. The Rockland County DA’s Special Victim’s Unit has been assisting the Clarkstown Police Department with this investigation. Executive Assistant District Attorney Steve Moore and Senior Assistant District Attorney George del Fierro Jr. are prosecuting this case. District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh, II. said, We should be thankful that our victim has survived and wishing her a speedy recovery. As for the defendant, my office will work with to ensure that he is prosecuted to the fullest extent the law allows. I have the utmost confidence in my team working with the Clarkstown Police Department to further investigate and prosecute this case. * It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Congratulations! Chief McCullagh presented PO Reilly and K9 Yara with their graduation certificate, from the Orange County K-9 Explosive Detection School. The school consists of an intense 12 week training program. Now they are ready to serve and protect our great community.
