Congratulations on being January's Employee of the Month Sasha!

Clinton County Nursing Home 30.12.2020

Dear Resident Family Member/Representative: I just spoke to our Omnicare District Director of Operations. CCNH is tentatively scheduled to receive our COVID-19 vaccine on January 11, 2021! There is still an official process that needs to take place in order for us to receive the vaccine, but I am confident that we will get the vaccine sooner rather than later. We have been working diligently to complete consent forms and all other necessary paperwork required by CVS so tha...t we will be ready when the pharmacy arrives on-site. Happy New Year! Wendie

This morning I was notified that another staff member tested positive for COVID-19. The individual had minimal contact with residents and wore a face mask and eye protection while in the nursing home. The staff member is isolating at home and is experiencing mild symptoms. As you know we have been testing all residents as a result of our positive COVID-19 staff members. At this point all COVID-19 test results for all residents are negative. We will continue to test th...e resident for COVID-19 and monitor them closely for any symptoms. At this point, all residents remain symptom free. I received many emails and phone calls from all of you in response to my email relating to the COVID-19 Vaccination. CVS has been in contact with us and they have confirmed that they will be designating a clinic date for us. Please keep in mind that we are working with the CVS Health Corporation which is a national company. It is not the local Target CVS Pharmacy that serves the CCNH. Our CVS COVID-19 Vaccination representative has emailed that they are working with the clinic team to get the kinks worked out and get everyone scheduled. They are dealing with nursing homes in every state. I do not believe they prioritize nursing homes based on the amount of COVID-19 positive cases in an area. I am just as upset and angry by the delay as you are. The staff at the nursing home have been working very hard to provide quality care to your loved one and keep themselves and your loved one safe. Everyone is anxiously awaiting the day we will receive the vaccine. I will let you know as soon as we have been given as clinic date. I wish you all a safe and Happy New Year!

I have been contacted by many of you and unfortunately I do not have any new information to share regarding the COVID-19 Vaccine. As of today, we have not been scheduled for the COVID-19 vaccination. All of us a CCNH are just as upset as you are that we have not been scheduled to receive the vaccine. At the beginning of December, CCNH signed up with the Federal COVID-19 Vaccination program which provides the Pfizer vaccine to all residents and staff of nursing homes. CVS... Pharmacy was selected, over Walgreens, as they currently provide pharmacy services to CCNH and as such have access to our residents’ demographic including medications and allergies. In an email last week, I encouraged all of you to contact CVS Pharmacy regarding CCNH’s COVID-19 vaccination date. I would again encourage you to contact CVS Pharmacy- [email protected]. Unfortunately, CCNH does not have a say in when we will be scheduled. On a positive note, all residents have had three COVID-19 tests in the past couple of weeks and all results were negative. Because we had staff members test positive, we will continue to COVID-19 test the residents and monitor them for any symptoms. Residents are also isolating in their rooms as we take every precaution necessary to protect them against COVID-19. At this point all residents remain symptom free. As usual, all staff are tested for COVID-19, screened and temperatures are taken prior to work. All staff wear face mask and eye protection and practice social distancing whenever possible to limit exposure to the residents and other staff members. I wish I had more information to share as I’m certain it would give everyone a little peace of mind. I hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas. Have a safe and Happy New Year!

I would like to provide an update regarding our most recent COVID-19 situation. As you are aware, we had a staff member test positive for COVID-19 on December 3, 2020 and another staff member test positive for COVID-19 on December 9, 2020. Thankfully, both individuals are isolating and recovering at home. Since those two staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, we have completed two rounds of COVID-19 testing for all residents and thankfully, all of the results are... negative for COVID-19. We are continuing to test residents and monitor them for signs and symptoms. As you may have heard, all residents and staff of nursing homes in New York State are being offered the vaccination for COVID-19. Clinton County Nursing Home has contracted with an outside pharmacy to administer the vaccine. As of today, we have not been provided a date that the pharmacy will conduct the first round of vaccination. However, we are diligently preparing for the vaccination. The pharmacy is requiring that all individuals that receive the vaccine, complete a consent form and provide a copy of their insurance. We are all anxiously awaiting the vaccine! As always, thank you for your continued support and understanding. Stay safe during this Christmas week!

8/07/20 Update for the Families & Friends of CCNH Residents: We know you are all awaiting to have face to face visits with your loved one. Unfortunately, CCNH does not meet the strict requirements that have been established by the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid to allow face to face visits. We know this situation is frustrating and heartbreaking to say the least. ... During this challenging time, we are attempting to ensure your loved one’s safety. We have heard that families are under the impression that our residents have not been allowed to leave their rooms. CCNH’s policy is that residents will be required to quarantine in their rooms if they are symptomatic, test positive for COVID-19 or have potentially been exposed to COVID-19. At the present time there are no residents that are required to quarantine in their rooms. We encourage residents to practice proper cough etiquette, socially distance and practice proper hand hygiene. For those of you who are interested, we continue to arrange window visits, FaceTime visits and zoom visits for you and your loved one. Please contact activities to schedule a time. It is important that you schedule a time as we have many families and residents interested in seeing their loved one. We may not be able to accommodate unscheduled visits. We ALL must be diligent in this fight and to be responsible members of the community. The life you save may not just be your own but all of us. Thank you.

As you are aware, Clinton County Nursing Home had a resident test positive for Covid-19 on July 8, 2020 and was notified on July 12, 2020. I am happy to report that this individual subsequently tested negative for Covid-19 on July 13, 2020. We continue to work closely with the Clinton County Health Department, the New York State Department of Health and the New York State Department of Epidemiology to determine the proper testing requirements and quarantine period. We als...o had an employee test positive for Covid-19 on July 2, 2020 and we were notified on July 13, 2020. As we mentioned in our past correspondence, our employee tested negative on July 10, 2020 and is quarantining at home waiting for the results of the second Covid-19 test. Thankfully both our resident and our employee remain symptom free! We continue to utilize proper infection protocol which includes droplet and contact precautions when necessary. We also screen staff and residents for temperature and signs and symptoms. Staff continue to be tested for Covid-19 weekly. I understand there have been a lot of concerns regarding being notified about our Covid-19 related positive cases. I would like to apologize if you feel we did not meet your expectations. As always, our primary concern is our residents and staff safety. I am hopeful that you can appreciate how much thought and effort went into this past experience. We have many, many plans, policies and procedures in place but this is still very new to our nursing home. Many families have inquired as to the results of the Covid-19 tests that were done on the residents as a result of our most recent events. We have not received many results from that testing. Fortunately the results that we have received were negative. We will not be calling families with tests results unless there is an abnormal result that directly affects your loved one. Also, we will continue to utilize email to communicate to any Covid-19 issues that have an impact on the nursing home. We will only be calling in the event that a situation directly applies to your loved one.

Dear Residents and Families, This afternoon, we received a directive from the New York State Department of Health regarding visitation at that nursing home. On March 13, 2020, the Department of Health (Department) issued guidance to nursing homes (NHs) limiting visitation to medically necessary or end-of-life services. Such guidance was updated July 10, 2020. The guidance further provided that facilities where one or more residents tested positive for COVID-19 should can...cel congregate meals and activities. The Department will now permit outside visitation, and limited indoor visitation and activities, if the NHs meet specific benchmarks and develop a reopening plan via the NY Forward Safety Plan We are currently reviewing this document it to ensure that we meet the guidelines as they are set forth. This will not be a quick process as our residents’ safety is our first priority. However we wanted to let you know we are diligently working on this as we certainly know how difficult this has been for all of you. We appreciate your understanding a patience with us during this process as we too cannot wait to see you all. See more
