Professor Ester Fuchs, a New York native, has long been embedded in the civic and political life of the city. The former senior advisor to Mayor Bloomberg is now crunching data with Columbia’s medical school on the CovidWatcher project, tasked with keeping New York safe. She plans to do so while improving policy for underserved communities. There is really no alternative for New York than to once again reinvent itself, she says of the city postCOVID-19. "And those who choose to stay will know why they are here and what they must do; and those who come to pursue the New York City dream, like generations before them, will find it." What is reason for being here?

This #ColumbiaGivingDay, join Carlos Cuevas MPA ’12 to help change lives that change the world. When we give, we’re not just impacting one student for one semester, we’re impacting that student and the generations of family members who will have a better shot in life because of that student’s hard work. It’s our job to work to strengthen our community. Support SIPA students today: http://bit.ly/SIPAFB2020
