Christmas came early at CompassCare's Buffalo office! A new ultrasound machine was delivered this morning. Thanks to the generosity of pro-life Christians, CompassCare patients receive free ultrasounds and other pregnancy services. By providing a window into the womb, ultrasounds allow women to see their child, hear his or her heartbeat and learn how far along they are in their pregnancy. This information is vital to her decision-making process as she talks through her thoughts, feelings and life tensions with a compassionate nurse.

New Hope Family Services in Syracuse filed suit against New York, claiming the state discriminated against them for their Christian beliefs. New Hope Family Services is a Christian organization receiving no government funding. New Hope helps women, many of whom had considered abortion, to instead place their children for adoption within homes defined by the biblical standard of monogamous male/female marriage. The state required New Hope to either violate their deeply held re...ligious convictions by placing children with same-sex couples or shutter their services. Rather than cave to the secular beliefs of New York, they courageously filed a lawsuit claiming the state violated their First Amendment rights. The case was dismissed. But New Hope appealed to the Federal 2nd Circuit Court. On July 21, a victory was secured for New Hope and believers everywhere. It appears that the abortion industry took advantage of the Covid-19 crisis by attempting to loosen restrictions on chemical abortion. They seek to dispense the dangerous chemicals by mail. Evidence points to the Covid-19 scare contributing to an increase in abortion. The negative economic impact including massive job losses intensified the anxieties faced by pregnant women. Even under normal circumstances health and financial pressures put women at risk for abortion. During the lockdown abortion was considered an ‘essential service.’ A CBS news story noted increased demand for abortion at abortion facilities. An ABC news story noted a 35% increase in requests f...or assistance for abortion funds. The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration reported a 3.5% increase in abortion for 2020 over 2019 for the timeframe January to June. The data only suggests a trend and may not actually represent a national increase in abortion rates.
