Arundhati Roy. How precisely she puts into words, what so many of us feel, but lack the eloquence and capacity to express. A moment to reflect, before our hopes... and resolutions propel us into 2021. I hope your year is full of friendship, health and kindness - and your interaction with our planet, positive and sustainable. Be the change you want to happen. See more

Hello! Conscious Wellness is open (again)! Monroe County is still in the orange zone, which means I am required to get a rapid Covid-19 test every week. I will open my scheduler up one week in advance so you can prepay and book online yourself. With that said, if you would like to schedule a massage further out, please email me at [email protected] or send me a text at 585-348-7980 to book; you’ll provide payment at the end of the session. If Monroe County heads into the red zone, you’ll be required to provide a doctor’s note in order to get a massage as my business will only be allowed to be open for medical massages only. Thank you and feel free to reach out with any questions! consciouswellnessroc.com

Hi Friends! A friendly reminder that if you have a doctor's note, I can offer a medical massage (even during the orange or red zone shut down). Please email me at [email protected] if you have one and I'll schedule you ASAP. Thanks! Liz

With many of us protesting and/or supporting the protests, our nervous systems maybe in (sympathetic) fight or flight or freeze mode. Take time to rest and move your body in a way that works best for you. If you need to move and be with others, I'm teaching today/Thursday at Tru Yoga Rochester 4:30pm. xo

They say it’s divisive to point to bad policies as the racial problem and not bad people. Meaning they think it’s unifying to go after certain racial groups as... the problem. They say it’s divisive to say the racial groups are equals. Meaning they think it’s unifying to claim certain racial groups are superior or inferior. They say it’s divisive to recognize and respect different cultures. Meaning they think it’s unifying to tell proud cultural groups to assimilate into a supposedly superior White American culture. They say it’s divisive to say #BlackLivesMatter. Meaning they think it’s unifying to respond to #BlackLivesMatter with All Lives Matter, even though all lives are not dying at equal rates from state violence and COVID-19. They say it’s divisive to diagnose racism in America. Meaning they think it’s unifying to tell Black and Brown and Indigenous people crying out I can’t breathe that the knee of racist policies is not on their necks. They say it’s divisive to root out racist power and policy. Meaning they think it’s unifying to maintain or defend a White supremacist nation with racial inequities and disparities and people suffering all around us. They say it’s divisive to say someone is being racist. Meaning they think it’s unifying to tell the person on the other side of the racist act that pointing out the problem is the problem, and not the racist act. They say it’s divisive to render not racist absolutely meaningless. Meaning they think it’s unifying to allow people who are being racist to keep telling their victims again and again that they are not racist. They say it’s divisive to challenge American exceptionalism. Meaning they think it’s unifying to preach American exceptionalism to people who have been systemically murdered, enslaved, impoverished, disenfranchised, exploited, raped, segregated, incarcerated, deported, and terrorized. They say it’s divisive to teach Americans the complex truth about American racism. Meaning they think it’s unifying to teach Americans simple lies about Americaabout other Americans. Mark my words. There are few things more divisive than racism. Mark my words. There are few things more unifying than antiracism.

Daniel Prude was killed by Rochester Police in March. He was treated without inhumanely and died at the hands of RPD. Then the mayor and police chief covered it up for six months. I can’t stop thinking about this. How many more Black men and women have to die at the hands of police before some us start to care and ask for changes? As a wellness practitioner, I can’t wrap my head around the lack of empathy and compassion from many white people. Using our privilege as whi...te people to stand up (with a voice, resources, etc) to the injustices against Black people, ask for police accountability and change in the justice system is one of our many roles. A question I often ask myself and I’ll ask all of my fellow white friends, family, colleagues, and clients: what are we doing to stop police brutality? What ways can we work to be anti-racist? . . . #defundthepolice #blacklivesmatter See more

I am back teaching live in-person at Central Rock Gym! Starting tomorrow, I’ll be teaching (with a mask) every Saturday 10-11am a vinyasa class. Occupancy is now at 8 students with masks on. . . It’ll feel strange and different for all of us at first but it’ll be fun too! And knowing me and my teaching style, you already know it’ll be challenging. Even with the pace slowed down to help maintain an even breath while in the mask, we will work on building strength and mob...ility. I can’t wait to be in class with you all again! . . .Please sign up in advance if you plan to attend. Everyone is required to wear masks. Check out the website for covid protocols and details. FYI, no adjustments will be given and we will not being using props. Bring your own mat. . https://centralrockgym.com/rochester/ . . #rocyoga #crg #rochesteryoga #rochesterny #yoga #vinyasa

Do you turn towards, away, or against people when they try to connect with you? Turning towards means being responsive. Turning against means criticizing or shu...tting the person down. Turning away means ignoring or changing the subject. The attempt at connection:"Look at the beautiful sky!" Turning towards:" Let me see!" Turning against: "Why are you always bothering me with that stuff?" Turning away: "Did you see the news?" Happy relationships have people making bids AND people turning towards them. Notice people's bids to connect today and try to respond (sometimes it only takes 2 seconds to do so!)

I appreciate this article. I know the word vulnerability is trendy at this point, but it still holds value. I have found that since the pandemic started, when I ask people how they are -- their reply isn't the usual "I'm fine!" or "Great!" People are honest and vulnerable; they give real answers. I, myself, have been more open and honest with friends and others. That to me is vulnerability. It doesn't have to be all about past traumas (though it can be at times). It's just ab...out being real. From the article: <> See more
