Join us for a View From the Heights as Dr. Robert Snyder, Manhattan Borough Historian, remembers Coogan's. "People who ran Coogan's ... saw the possibility of an integrated bar that welcomed in the whole world." We raise our glass to you, Dr. Snyder, and to all of you who helped make Coogan's a success. And please help keep the Coogan's legacy strong with a donation to our fundraiser benefiting small businesses in Washington Heights. https://www.facebook.com/donate/352420605756421/
A blast from the past that brought a tear to the eye. Thanks to Jon Rich for sharing this wonderful video of his group Silk City performing at Coogan's so many years ago. Leave a comment if you saw this show, or any show, at Coogan's! And don't forget that our fundraiser to benefit small businesses in Washington Heights is still going strong, just like Jon's soulful singing. (He's still at it!) https://www.facebook.com/donate/352420605756421/
Glenn Anderson, director of an upcoming documentary about Coogan's, told us that he wanted to make his film because "I love telling stories about ordinary doing extraordinary things and the entire history of Coogan’s has been about kindness, friendship and helping their wonderfully diverse community." That community spirit is why we're working with the United Way of New York City and Facebook on a fundraiser to benefit local small businesses. Please donate if you can. https://www.facebook.com/donate/352420605756421/
It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news that today Coogan's lost a great friend and NYC lost a fabulous advocate. Jim Dwyer played a huge role in the story of Coogan's with its many twists and turns, and was instrumental in the extension of our lease. He will be hugely missed. RIP Jim. https://www.nytimes.com///08/nyregion/jim-dwyer-dead.html
Jon Michaud, author of an upcoming book about Coogan's, said this about the fundraiser: "Tess, Peter, and Dave are passionate believers in the crucial role that small businesses and nonprofit organizations play in nurturing the communities they serve. They need our support now because they are going to be essential to the recovery and prosperity of Washington Heights when the pandemic is over." (Dave and Peter are pictured here.) https://www.facebook.com/donate/352420605756421/

We may have closed our restaurant but we are supportive of our industry friends who are still struggling on a daily basis. They have asked us to post this on our Facebook page. Please take a moment to review: https://www.change.org/p/restaurant-coalition-pet/dashboard
Coogan's NYC was more than a restaurant. In the eyes and hearts of its devoted patrons, it was a special place. A true neighborhood spot gone too soon and it’s ...not the only one. Many others like it are at risk of suffering the same fate. What are some of the small businesses you love in your community? See more
Thanks to many of you, our fundraiser has surpassed $11,000 in donations. Remember: Facebook will match up to the first $100,000 in donations, so please keep sharing with everyone you know! https://www.facebook.com/donate/352420605756421/
