Whiskers are IN! Have you heard? Starting JULY 1st, 2021, all horses competing in FEI regulation events must have their natural whiskers intact. The new rule b...ans the shaving of the sensory hairs on the muzzle, eyes, and outer ears. Unanimously passing during the FEI's General Assembly on November 23rd, the veterinary regulation includes sport horses competing under FEI rules in all disciplines. The penalty for non-compliance is the disqualification of the horse from the event. Shaving of sensory hairs for veterinary reasons is exempt, stating "if the horse's sensory hairs have been clipped and/or shaven or in any other way removed unless individual sensory hairs have been removed by a veterinarian to prevent pain or discomfort for the horse." Feeling thankful for my Amazing students and boarders. You are loyal and supportive. Without you Cooperstown Equestrian Park would not continue to grow and improve. 8 years ago we moved into a 30 Year old farm. Every year I reinvest back into the farm for upgrades and improvements to make my life and the horses and students lives better. ... I couldn’t do that without all the wonderful people in mine and the critters at Zemi Farms’ lives. While this year has been a disheartening and tough year. I am thankful for all of you.
