This morning, partner Casey Copps DiPaola presented on the surrogacy provisions of the Child Parent Security Act, along with Support Magistrate Tom Gordon who presented on the assisted reproduction piece of the CPSA. The presentation was sponsored by the New York State Bar Association Children & The Law Committee, which is chaired by partner Lorraine Silverman.
Today we give our thanks and appreciation this Holiday Season to the Children’s Centers of Albany County Family Court and Rensselaer County Family Court Center. They are often forgotten during donation times and they provide such critical child care and other basic services to children whose parents are in family court. They keep the children safe, allow them time to play, or sleep, or cuddle, and shield them from adult proceedings - even if just for a few hours so their caregivers can focus on the important matters before the Court. Thank you for all that you do!
We are so proud of our Attorney, Kayla Molinaro, for being selected as the #1 Divorce Attorney by the Daily Gazette for 2020. We love you, Kayla Molinaro!

One of the great things about compensated surrogacy becoming legal in NY is that NY families can now continue to work with their own fertility clinics when they turn to surrogacy. We are so excited for the opportunity to be working with such great clinics in NY.

In October, the Supreme Court of the United States will decide if religious organizations can discriminate against foster parents based on their sexual orientation. Today, the New York State Bar Association filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court to protect LGBTQ rights in a case that could potentially upend the lives of thousands of foster children across the country. NYSBA’s LGBTQ People and the Law Committee and the Children and the Law Committee spearheaded th...is effort, and our very own Joe Williams helped write the Amicus Brief! Here is a link to the amicus brief: https://nysba.org/app/uploads/2020/08/297814_Brief.pdf To learn more about our appellate practice, visit our website: https://thecdslawfirm.com/family-law-appeals/ https://nysba.org/new-york-state-bar-association-files-ami/
