To our fellow residents: Our department is asking you to please follow these precautions during the COVID-19 outbreak. If you are quarantined (mandatory or self imposed) in your home due to possible or confirmed COVID-19 exposure, PLEASE notify 911 when you call and advise the dispatcher. ... We also ask that you place a sign/note on your front door to alert our firefighters to take infection-prevention precautions before entering your home or business. We need to protect our crews so that they will be able to continue to meet the emergency needs of the community. Elsewhere, there have been entire fire companies quarantined after they have responded to quarantined homes and were not alerted before entering. Those first responders are now unavailable to help anyone for at least 14 days. In our department we cannot afford to have this happen and being VOLUNTEER we do not want to have to take it home to our families. Thank you for your understanding....

The Coram Fire Department will have a drive thru, socially distanced Fire Prevention Day, Sunday 10/4/20. We encourage our residents to come between 9am-4pm and partake in our annual Fire Prevention day by coming by our Main Headquarters, (303 Middle Country Road, Coram) where you will be able to get a goodie bag filled with great stuff and Fire Safety information. It’s a little different this year, but the message is still the same. October is Fire Prevention Month and we look forward to seeing you!

This year marks the 19th anniversary of one of the most dreadful days in US History when cowardly terrorists took the lives of 2,977 people including the lives of 412, (and counting) Emergency Workers. Sadly, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Coram Fire Department will NOT be hosting a public ceremony this year. However, we do encourage everyone to observe a moment of silent reflection for those that were lost, and those whose lives that were forever changed as a result of t...hat fateful day. We thank you, our Coram, Longwood community for your continual support and stand united with you during these trying times. In 2001, we stood tall together, and again today in 2020 as we stare down this horrible pandemic we again stand tall, United. God Bless those lost on 9/11, God Bless our First Responders, and God Bless America!

Residents of Coram: As you all know, the area is expected to be impacted by Tropical Storm Isaias over the next 24 hours. We are expected to see periods of heavy rain and sustained wind with gusts approaching 70mph. This could cause areas of flooding, downed trees, and Power Lines. We have taken steps to prepare for the storm and ask you to follow a few simple safety precautions.... 1. Please do not attempt to drive through flooded streets as your vehicle could quickly become disabled in the flood waters. 2. If you see a downed tree, wait until after the storm has passed before you try to address it. There is a risk that you could be struck by other flying or falling debris. 3. In the event that there are power lines involved, please call 911 immediately and crews will be dispatched to evaluate. Stay safe everyone and know that if needed for an emergency, we’re there to assist you.

Attention Coram Residents: Tonight at 7 pm, our sirens, along with department sirens around Suffolk County, will sound in a show of support and solidarity for all of our Healthcare Providers working around the clock caring for those infected with the COVID-19 virus. Their hard work and dedication are allowing us to get through these trying times. We would like to call special attention to our dedicated staff of EMS personal, as well as those medical professionals in our area’...s hospitals, (Stony Brook, St. Charles, Mather, & LI Community Hospital) that have been tirelessly running a tremendous amount of calls and caring for an unprecedented number of patients over the last few weeks, putting themselves as well as their loved ones at increased risk in order to care for our Residents. From the bottom of our hearts we salute & thank you! We’re asking that at 7 pm, open your doors, sit on the porch or deck and take a moment to listen and be thankful for the work they are doing.
