This is a bill for excavation and other work for the new portion of the high school in 1935 (gymnasium). The work was done for 45 cents an hour. The little snapshot at the bottom of the bill is suppose to be the man who did the work. He is wearing a hat with earflaps. Does anyone recognize him? The other photo shows the foundation work started on the new gymnasium built next to the old high school. Thanks Sylvia and Tim

This booklet was given to parents of children entering kindergarten in the mid 1950's. It contained lots of helpful hints and advice from the school. Children had to be 5 years old by December 31 in order to begin school. The morning classes were from 9 to 11:30 and the afternoon session was from 1:15 to 3:15. Milk could be purchased for five cents for a half pint bottle. Defense Stamps were also available for purchase by the children. Thanks Jimmy H.
After all the comments about businesses that used to be in Corinth I thought you would like seeing this hand drawn map of Main Street stores on the east side, (probably the 1930's to 40's and some were still there much later). The top right corner is the intersection with Palmer Avenue, the second row continues on past Sherman Avenue, and the third row ends at the beach with the monument.
Who remembers Proller's Department Store on Main Street?

This is from a 1910 newspaper article about the strike at International Paper Co. at Corinth. Pictured are Maurice T. Jones (brother of Bert Jones who some may remember) and W. T. Sturdevan, both union officials. The caption states "both are men of good common sense and high executive ability".
