Guess what?! We've grown again! Please welcome, Amanda Breedlove, DPT. We are so grateful that Amanda and her husband (and pup!) chose Buffalo, NY to call home and we can't wait for you to meet her! Amanda’s passion for pelvic health was influenced by her mother, an OBGYN nurse. Growing up, Amanda and her mother had many conversations regarding women’s health, allowing Amanda to be comfortable discussing all things related to the pelvic floor. This sparked her interest in pel...vic floor therapy in PT school. Frustrated by the number of women who consider bladder leaking normal and astounded by how females endure childbirth and are not instructed in the importance of their recovery, Amanda dove into the world of pelvic health. She strives to help people understand their bodies and what is normal versus common. Amanda was born and raised in Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C. She received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Brigham Young University followed by her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University. Amanda worked in multiple physical therapy settings before coming to work at CorrEra PT. She received training in pelvic floor rehab for both men and women from Herman & Wallace and Visceral Manipulation from the Barral Institute. Amanda is passionate about working with each individual to improve movement, stay active, and take control of their health.

Let’s address one of the elephants in the room of pelvic health... yes, men and women both have pelvic floor muscles. There are some obvious and not so obvious differences, though many similarities. In the female pelvis (shown) there are three openings, while the male has two. Don’t be embarrassed if until this moment you didn’t know how many you have in your pelvic floor! We get asked all of the time! If you’ve had urinary symptoms and bowel symptoms, maybe some pain, but your doc has told you that your symptoms aren’t in their area of plumbing, chances are the musculoskeletal system needs to be considered! Just look at how many you have down there!

March is Endo Awareness Month. So many people who experience pelvic pain can understand what this picture feels like... You're not alone and it's not just in your head. Pelvic floor rehab can be a very helpful resource but a team approach is so critical to addressing the whole person, especially with how this diagnosis impacts lives! If you haven't felt heard or supported, we hear you! For our online community we hope you know about Nancy's Nook on Facebook as well as Dustienne Miller's Your Pace Yoga programs that are available for download at https://yourpaceyoga.com/product/yoga-for-endometriosis/ <3
