CARVE PUMPKINS THIS WEEKEND FOR A CHANCE TO WIN! October is filled with scary, spooky, silly fun and we’re looking for the best pumpkins in the patch! The best part, it’s easy to participate! Carve (or paint) your Jack-O-Lantern, take a photo, and post the picture here on our Facebook event page, or post on Instagram and tag us @cradleofaviation to enter our first annual pumpkin carving contest! Submit your photo by Friday, October 30th at 5 PM. Winners from each category wil...l win two museum tickets. Winners will be announced on Monday, November 2nd via social media and contacted for information on prize retrieval. Age Group Categories Children (up to age 12) Teens (age 13 -17) Adults (18+) Themes Best Aviation Themed Pumpkin Best Space Themed Pumpkin Contest Rules: Each participant is allowed one entry. For families with multiple young children, participating pumpkins should be posted with the participant’s first name to be entered. In the children’s category, grown-ups may assist their child with their pumpkin. However, in the spirit of the category and the contest, please ensure the pumpkin is made primarily by the child. Pumpkins can be scary, silly, creative, or all of the above! Pumpkins that are violent and/or flagged as inappropriate will be removed from the Museum’s pages and the entry will be invalid. SAVE THE DATE! Save your Jack-O-Lanterns after Halloween to participate in our Annual Pumpkin Drop on Saturday, November 7th from 11 AM to 2 PM and watch your Jack fly off our balcony onto the Museum floor for the ultimate splat! The Cradle of Aviation Museum's annual Family Science Nights return with the beloved Spooky Science Night with two socially-distant and safe, limited attendee, family sessions on Friday, October 30th at 5 pm and 7 pm. Each session is packed with stimulating family-fun, STEM activities, and a Halloween parade to entertain the entire family. Tickets are $15.00 per person; $10 for Museum Members. All activities are included with admission. All tickets must be purchased in adva...nce, no tickets will be sold at the door. Ideal for kids in grades K-5. Activities include: - Frankenstein Hands: Use your mad scientist skills to dissect frozen hands to discover what is trapped inside. - Candy Catapults: Protecting your Halloween hoard is serious business. Construct and test your own catapults. - Boo-Be-Gones: You ain’t afraid of no ghosts! Learn how to keep ghosts away with some homemade ghost repellant. - Predicting the Future: Do you have a sixth sense? See if you can predict the future by studying what comes before it! - Kepler Planet Hunt: There are thousands of exoplanets in our galaxy and some have gotten lost in our museum. Can you shed some light on their location? Spooky Science Night is a fun and safe way to celebrate Halloween. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in person and having a great night of science tricks and treats!" - Kerri Kiker, Planetarium Education Coordinator There are a limited number of tickets available to ensure social distancing requirements are met throughout the duration of the program.
