Crailo State Historic Site

The Musicians of Ma'alwyck have released a virtual performance of 18th c Dutch music recorded at Crailo State Historic Site, the museum of the Colonial Dutch in... the Hudson River Valley. The repertoire will be almost entirely written by Dutch composers. According to Director and violinist of Musicians of Ma’alwyck, Ann Marie Barker Schwartz Dutch music is more than the early Baroque. They were actively composing Amsterdam was a hotbed of culture, but they were overshadowed by the German tradition and Mozart and Beethoven. At Crailo, the program includes: Willem de Fesch’s Six English Songs, Pietro Locatelli’s Trio Sonata and a Sonata for Flute. This photo is of Crailo right around 1940, when admission to the historic van Rensselaer home and museum was 25 cents! These days, admission is $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for students and seniors, and free for kids under 12 years old. Crailo is open from Wednesday through Sunday for reserved visits until October 31st.
