Homeschool Nature Group One of the main goals of this weekly meet up is to bring together a community of nature loving families. To create a cooperative learning environment once a week, where everyone can help one another. Older kids are welcome to be joined by the whole family. ... A community is just what we need during this time of isolating. For more information head to our website. http://www.creaturesinthewild.com/homeschoolnaturegroup : Madison Gray Photography

What do you see here? Maybe a child playing, enjoying fall, having a blast. I see all of that... ALSO I see a child working hard on his gross motor skills. Snagging some important sensory input. Concentrating on balance. Developing his depth perception. Expanding his independent play skills. Talk about pre writing! This dude is going to be set to learn to write. His confidence will soar. When the time is write. ... on stolen Onondaga land.

On this Indigenous People’s Day we hope that you take a moment and acknowledge the original people’s that took care of the nature around you. Remember to give as much as you take and acknowledge the harm that has been done in the past. https://youtu.be/Lz1vgfZ3etE

Today was the start of a year long project. We are checking the temperature of a spring fed creek and the attached pond once a month until the bed of the school year. We are also collecting the outdoor temperature at the same time. Then we will make a chart and see what it all looks like in June. #forestschool #forestschoolactivities #natureschool #outdoorschool #homeschooling #homeschool #waldorfeducation #walford #forestkindergarten #water #steam #stem

The perfect Forest School shoe. We found it. It took us five years but here it is. @splayathletics leave enough toe space for children to be able to use their toes as they are supposed to. The sole is super gripy without being thick. Plus the wide Velcro closure allows for a perfect snug fit. No random shoes flying off here. Have you tried them yet? Nope. Not an add. We won’t argue with some free shoes if they offer though ... : @erinstebbins : by Casey Kirkland Johnson : Nature

This mushroom just doing it’s thing is pure magic. A normal day in a mushroom. A reminder to look for wonder in the smallest spaces.

"Socialization" What a hot button word right now. No matter what your thoughts are on this word. It has been super hard for most kids to find a way to interact with humans that are not their families. In between schools having to follow strict rules, social distancing being vital, and most of us staying home way more that usual. At Homeschool Nature Group we aim to ease the burden of figuring out how your kids can see other humans. By safely meeting once a week outdoors kids... can see friends, explore and learn together. Families will be able to form a strong community that is impossible in other settings right now. For more information please check out our website! http://www.creaturesinthewild.com/homeschoolnaturegroup

Homeschool Nature Group Wednesday’s at 2pm during the school year. For children 8+ and their families. Let's start this year with a sense of community. Many families are homeschooling for the first time. Mostly due to a global pandemic, danger of an indoor school setting, and our education system drastically changing overnight. This is totally uncharted territory for most. Here at Creatures we want to help support families as much as possible during this time.... Homeschool Nature Group will be part of that support. The main goal of this group is to make a strong, supportive community. We will meet almost every Wednesday at 2pm. Our locations will vary depending on where the group wants to explore. During the deep winter we can get creative at various indoor spaces as much as COVID allows. Otherwise this will be a fully outdoor group. Find more information about membership and what that includes on our website. http://www.creaturesinthewild.com/homeschoolnaturegroup See more
