The Cuba Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative’s proposed reform and reinvention plan has been posted on our website at www.cubany.org under the police department section. We will be discussing this plan at our next meeting on January 21st, 2021 at 7:00pm at the Palmer Opera House. The public is welcome at this meeting. Social distancing as well as masks will be required. We are hoping to gain final input on this plan so we may move forward with Town Board ratification. We would like to thank all of the panel members as well as those from the public who have assisted us in this process.
Good morning residents! We just had a phone call from a scam number with our local area code 585 and 968- they told us it was the Social Security Office. Please... be aware and do not give your information. Hang up on the caller. Please remind people you know without social media, Never give out your personal information. Take care and stay safe! *** A message from our chaplain *** Peace, joy, celebration, family, good will, generosity, and so many other words describe the Christmas season. It seems that 2020 has challenged every one of those good values. But there is another word that can be found throughout the history of Christmas celebration that has kept all of the others alive even in times of great fear and uncertainty, HOPE. In fact, the very nativity that many of us commemorate during this season is rooted ...in the idea that hope transcends all human worry. Whatever challenges you may face this holiday season, remember that there is hope, and rejoice! May you have a happy, healthy, blessed, and hopeful holiday season. May God prosper you and bring unspeakable joy to your life in the year to come. With Love, Chaplain Giampa
Happy New Year’s Eve from the Cuba Police Department!
We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Chief Tim Walsh (retired),of the Wellsville Police Department. Receiving the news of a fellow public servant losing his/her life is always devastating. There are no words that are adequate to express our sympathy. The Cuba Police Department’s most sincere thoughts and prayers are with the family of Chief Walsh and the Wellsville Police Department during this tragic and difficult time.
If you're heading out tonight or early tomorrow morning please give yourself extra time.
The average homeowner probably doesn't realize how they clear their driveway affects the town, village and/or county snowplow operators. Residents should realize that if they push the snow across the road, lane, highway, town or village street, it is illegal in the state of New York. This causes unsafe conditions for both drivers and public utilities attempting to clear roads. Please find a suitable location for snow within the confines of the property being cleared or clean up any snow you may deposit in the roadway while clearing your driveway.
*** Press Release *** On December 8th, 2020, at approximately 6:20pm, Cuba police arrested Carolyn Rhodes (38) of Bolivar. - Shop with a Cop 2020 - Officer Steiner participated in two shop with a cop programs this year. The program was different than years past as participants were given tours of the police cars and shopping was done as a socially distant event. The number of persons shopping at any given time was limited due to Covid restrictions. These programs continue to provide Christmas every year to struggling families and it is such an honor that we get the privilege to be a part of such ...a heart warming event this time of year. . . From our department to you, Happy Holidays!
This holiday season has been strange to say the least. We refuse to let it stop us from having some holiday cheer in our office. The Cuba Police Department would like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season!
Officer Emley recently conducted a field sobriety and traffic stop training class for criminal justice students at the Boces Career and Technical Education Center. This program is for students who are planning to enter the law enforcement field. The topics taught are blood alcohol content, identifying drivers under the influence, absorption of alcohol, making a traffic stop, approaching a vehicle safely, probable cause and officer safety. The program ended with a hands on practical final exam. We are proud to be associated with this great program and wish all of the students the best of luck in their future endeavors!
We are still asking for the public’s assistance in helping us to locate Katherine. Please share again.
This year we are especially thankful for the strong community support that we have. Happy Thanksgiving from the Cuba Police Department!
