Artist-Physician Dr Ahmed Mater (@ahmedmater) has donated his Mecca-inspired Magnetism installation to support the global Covid-19 response through the arts.As a community physician and leading Arab artist, Ahmed has donated the work to express his solidarity with the World Health Organization (@WHO)and join a global cultural movement to support recovery from the pandemic.Scroll through the slideshow to see where Magnetism has been exhibited over the ...years. The Future is Unwritten’s Healing Arts Initiative has launched with the sale of Magnetism as part of Christie’s (@christiesinc) Middle East Contemporary Art Sale in London. Bidding for the sale ends tomorrow, 24 November at 9AM EST.Working in collaboration with the WHO, WHO Foundation (@thewhof), UN75 (@join_un75), World Council of Peoples of the United Nations (@wcpun) and CULTURUNNERS (@culturunners), the initiative aims to increase awareness around a global path to recovery and raise critical funds to mobilise artists and health professionals in support of communities most vulnerable, at-risk and with the weakest health systems to act effectively in response to the pandemic. Announcing The Future is Unwritten’s Healing Arts Auction series in partnership with @christiesinc - a cultural call-to-action to support the World Health Organization & COVID-19 response through the arts. The Healing Arts Auctions - announced today by #christies @thewhof and @join_un75 - will run until the end of next year, with works to be offered in a number of sales across a wide range of genres. The first work to come under the hammer will be Magnetism (2012) by physic...ian-artist, Ahmed Mater, appearing in Christie's November Middle East Contemporary Art Sale in London. As part of @culturunners and @wcpun #thefutureisunwritten initiative to engage the international art world in UN priority areas, and @who Solidarity Series of Events, the auction series aims to increase awareness around a global path to recovery and raise critical funds to mobilize artists and health professionals in support of communities most vulnerable and with the weakest health systems to act effectively in response to the pandemic. We are actively searching for artwork donations and support to make this project a success so please do DM us if you are in a position to help.
