DaCy Meadow Farm

Walk your way to fitness and good spirits through the winter and enjoy some farm to table food on us. Supervisor Ike got the track at the fairgrounds plowed so that we can walk safely towards spring. We want to have some fun after a trying year for all of us. Walk 50 laps, 25 miles, between now and March 20th and we will give a free week of DaCy Delivers, our locally sourced meal delivery program, to the first 10 people who reach this goal. You can enjoy it yourself, share it with a friend or neighbor, or donate it to someone who could use a bit of help. DaCy

My father owned a farm, his father owned a farm before him, for as many generations as any of us can remember. He left his farm five days a week to earn a living to provide for his family, but his love and passion was his land. One of my most powerful life lessons was learned on a a brutally hot, day when we were building fences swarmed by a hoard of relentless mosquitoes. He insisted on all of the fence posts being perfectly straight, an exhausting task that involved digging... up rocks and pounding cedar posts in with a 16 pound maul. I couldn’t take it anymore and lashed out at him. Dad, the damn cows don’t care if these posts are straight or not! He stopped for a moment and said, I do, and my neighbors do. It seems sometimes like these values and people like my father are considered quaint, anachronistic . Perhaps it’s fitting that he was outside working on his property last week when he took the fall that brought an end to his life last night. He still cared about his land and saw it as a reflection of everything that mattered to him. I’m going to go do chores, now. I won’t come close to the level of perfection he always exemplified. A little of the backstory to DaCy Meadow Farm. There are times when we think it’s time to slow down and take it easy, but we don’t golf and after an hour on a beach we’re stir crazy. This must be the life we were meant to have because it’s the one we’ve chosen one loving day at a time.
