On 4 August at 6:30pm EST via Zoom, Dorothy Price Hill ‘88 will interview Matt Robinson, Dartmouth spouse and author of Lions, Tigers, and... Bulldogs: An unofficial guide to the legends and lore of the Ivy League. As a child, Matt went to many football games at his father's alma mater, Brown University, where he quickly fell in love with the famous Brown Bear. Since graduating from Penn (where Matt wrote halftime shows for the band and spent time with Penn's mascot, the Figh...ting Quaker), Matt has been an English teacher, boxing coach, and professional writer who has published over 5,000 pieces in more than 250 international publications. He also writes, edits, and handles communications for individuals and institutions around the world. Please register here to join us: https://securelb.imodules.com/s//clubs-classes/index.aspx The Zoom link will be sent to you before the evening of the event. From the book's official website -- "You may understand that Harvard was the first college in the United States or that Penn is the oldest university. You could be aware that Yale's mascot is named Handsome Dan and that Brown's first bear was named Helen. Perhaps you even know that Princeton has a battleship named for it or that Cornell's colors inspired the design for Campbell's soup. And who can forget that Animal House was written by a Dartmouth grad and that the atom bomb was developed at Columbia? But did you know that one of these schools had a burro for a mascot and another an orange man, or that students at two of them throw food at sporting events? Do you know where students can request songs to be played on the campus bell tower, which school uses Pantone 290 for its official color, and which has the oldest continuously-published daily student newspaper? All this and MORE can be learned in Matt Robinson’s new book, Lions, Tigers, and Bulldogs? An unofficial guide to the legends and lore of the Ivy League." Alma mater. Tonight, the Dartmouth Brovertones performed at the #Dartmouth250 celebration. "The Dartmouth Brovertones are Dartmouth's second oldest all...-male a capella group, founded in 1993. Originally named Final Cut, the group was traditionally known for singing popular songs from the 80's and 90's. The group's current repertoire consists of approximately 30 songs. The group has four albums, its latest, "Bro & Tell," was recorded and released in 2012. The group's most recent Winter Tours have involved travel to Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Louisville, Nashville, and Atlanta. The Brovertones also enjoy performing many on and off campus shows every term, with recent off campus excursions to Brown University, Princeton University, Tufts University, Georgetown University, Smith College, Middlebury College, and WPI. The Brovertones hold auditions every fall in conjunction with the other campus a cappella groups." See more
