Members of the DeWitt Police Department are showing their support and raising awareness for the cause by wearing pink badges on their uniforms, in lieu of their traditional badges. ... **We need your help!** The DeWitt Police Department is attempting to identify the individual in the photos regarding a stolen vehicle investigation. The vehicle was stolen around 1:00pm on September 3rd, 2020 from Texas Roadhouse’s parking lot on Erie Blvd. in DeWitt. ... The suspect is a white male with a chin strap beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark colored ball cap, white shirt with a black tank top over it, a fanny pouch style bag draped over his chest, black shorts and Nike slides with socks on. **Public Comment Session on Response Plan to NYS Executive Order 203** Chief Chase Bilodeau reports that the Town of DeWitt Police Commission will be hosting a public comment session in regards to their response plan to New York State Executive Order 203. The purpose of this session is to offer the public an opportunity to review and comment on the work that has been completed thus far in response to Executive Order 203. ... The session will take place in the Town of DeWitt Court Room at 6:30 pm on September 24, 2020. Social distancing protocols will be in place and subjects will be required to wear a mask upon entry to the building. The session will be streamed live via Facebook on the Town of DeWitt’s Facebook page. ** SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION ! ** The DeWitt Police Department would like to remind everyone that schools are reopening this week. Ensuring that children get to school safely should be a top priority for everyone in the community. ... Please pay attention to school zone speed limits and stopped school buses. As a reminder, school speed zones are in effect from 7:00am - 6:00pm on days when school is in session. Also, motorists must stop for flashing red lights on school buses when traveling behind a school bus and when approaching a bus with flashing lights from the opposite direction. This includes on divided highways with medians and multiple lane roads. The DeWitt Police Department, along with various other Law Enforcement agencies will be patrolling school zones and monitoring school buses in our community, and will be issuing tickets to violators. Please be careful, and make our children a top priority while driving in our community.
