With big game season about to open, we want to ensure that all hunters are following the principles of hunter safety. DEC urges New York's 500,000 hunters to u...se common sense, follow the tenets taught in DEC's Hunter Education Course, and put safety first in every hunting trip this season. This week, our staff will be bringing you Facebook Live events dedicated to Hunt Safe NY topics. If you can’t watch live, you can find all of the videos on our Facebook page, along with other hunter safety videos and more. Hunt Safe NY Topics this week: 1. Tree stand safety 2. Take advantage of the warm weather this weekend and enjoy the fall foliage at Dorchester Park! This is the last chance to take advantage of the Boathouse Extended hours which ends this Sunday, September 27th 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m. Availalble rentals include kayaks, paddleboats, sailboats, canoes, rowboats and stand-up paddle boards!

There is still plenty of time to submit your 5th Annual Scarecrow Contest & Display entry forms by this Friday, September 25th! Dozens of scarecrows will be set...-up 10/2-10/4. The display officially opens 10/5, with voting beginning on 10/5-10/18 both online and at the Otsiningo Park! Scarecrows will be on display through 10/21 to help celebrate the fall season. Stop by and see our community members creations at the park.
