Downsville Central School

Second grade has been learning about landforms as well as changes on earth. In small groups, the students had a task to build protection for a beach house. Each group of 3 was allowed to choose 2-4 supplies for their creation. The engineers got to work trying to figure out how to best protect their house from both wind and waves that could erode the sand away. Today we put each house to the test by blowing wind and pushing waves at the coastline. Every group successfully protected their house, so we followed up with discussions about which would look the nicest and which would not impact the wildlife found nearby. Nice job second grade scientists!
