Disability Rights Bar Association 10.01.2021

2020 marks both the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the 75th observance of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. In celebration of both of these momentous occasions, the American Bar Association Commission on Disability Rights and the Law School Admission Council created the following video, featuring disabled lawyers and law students, as well as law school professionals, discussing why disability diversity and inclusion is so important, and why employers should recruit, hire, retain, and advance employees with disabilities. https://www.americanbar.org//initiatives/ndeam/2020-video/

Sunday, July 26, 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). As you may know, Dick Thornburgh is widely recognized for his leading role in the enactment of the ADA as Attorney General under President George H.W. Bush. Watch a historical video highlighting the signing of the ADA. It is truly a remarkable video for all to watch. https://vimeo.com/146253198

Disability Rights Bar Association 24.11.2020

The Disability Rights Bar Association (DRBA) stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement to bear witness to the pain of centuries of racial oppression, inequity, and white supremacy intensified by recent brutal actions, including the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. As a result of the effects of longstanding structural racism, COVID-19 has also killed black people at starkly higher rates over the last few months, making these murders even more painful. We must begin dismantling the systems of oppression and white supremacy operating in our country, systems that disproportionately affect black people, including those with disabilities. The inequitable, inhumane, and brutal treatment of black people must stop. http://disabilityrights-law.org/drba-statement-blm
