We are starting a new feature this Tuesday...Dr. Carranza shares her Tuesday Tips for Tip-Top Teeth. Let us know whether you find the info helpful, and what else you'd like to learn more about with regards to your oral health! Today's tip: "I have many patients who brush consistently yet still only floss on occasion. Here is a challenge that I’ve made to patients who’ve asked me about the importance of flossingafter not having flossed for a while, floss your teeth and then before disposing of the floss, smell what you’ve removed from in between your teeth, left on the floss. That smell of bacteria build-up will often encourage patients to floss more regularly." Need help with cosmetic or restorative dental work? https://victorprosthodontics.com/contact-us/

3217. Three thousand, two hundred and seventeen miles. This is the lengthy distance in miles over land from Guatemala City, Guatemala to Rochester, New York. It is also symbolic of the long road that Dr. Gabriela Carranza has had to travel to get to this point in her career as a highly specialized dentist. When I bought my dental practice, located in Victor, NY, back in October of 2018, I wanted a new logo that was more me. I’ve seen some organizations choose their logos based solely on how good they look. Wow, that is so cool. What a beautiful design. And there is certainly nothing wrong with that approach. I love beautiful things! But in my case, I wanted our logo to not only look great, but to also represent what we do for our patients at Victor Prosthodontics. Prosthodont...ists are dentists who undergo at least three years of additional training beyond dental school in a Prosthodontics residency to become experts in the replacement and restoration of teeth. Because of this extra training we tend to deal with more challenging and complex cases. And for some of our patients, we serve as their last resort to solve their dental problems. It’s not unusual for our patients to look at themselves in the mirror after we’ve worked on them and to feel as if they’ve undergone a transformation. Emotions at the completion of treatment can range from tears of joy to near disbelief is that really me? Read more: https://victorprosthodontics.com//the-meaning-behind-the-/

I haven’t posted in a while and there’s a reason why...I have been preparing for today. Pretty much my whole adult life has been working up to this point. 15+ years studying dentistry, more than 4 years teaching dentistry and nearly a year in private practice. Having my own practice has been a dream of mine since I knew that I wanted to become a dentist at the age of 9 (that’s another story!). Whenever I stayed up all night suffering, studying for the dental board exams - thi...s moment, this day, is what kept me going. I don’t like what I do, I LOVE it! Every morning I wake up excited to see my patients, hoping to help them to feel better about themselves by enhancing their appearance and making sure their teeth function as they should. This morning I bought a dental practice, which will be called Victor Prosthodontics going forward. The doctor I purchased the practice from is staying on as an associate, and I am so excited about what we will be able to create and build together. I thank all my friends, my husband, my family (especially my mother) for all of their support and love. Thank you for the part you have played in making my dreams come true. #ladyboss #victorprosthodontics #ilovedentistry See more

People often ask me - "so what exactly does a Prosthodontist do?" Well, we are trained to handle complex dental cases which involve the replacement and/or restoration of teeth...which can include crowns, veneers, dentures, bridges, etc. All Prosthodontists are specialists, completing 3 years of residency after finishing dental school. I also completed an additional fellowship after my Prosthodontics residency placing implants. All of those years of education (12 years studying dentistry!) mean that you can feel comfortable with me knowing that I have had extensive training in my field.

I believe that we should care for each and every patient as if they were a member of our family.

7 Reasons Why You Might Need to See A Prosthodontist... #1 You need a second opinion: Having issues with your teeth and unsure where to turn? Prosthodontists are specialized dentists, experts in providing their patients with a complete diagnosis and treatment plan. Prosthodontists take charge of your care and ensure that the work you need to restore your smile and function is completed according to plan and on schedule. #2 You’re not getting the results you expected: If you’v...e ever felt like your case is hopeless, Prosthodontists have at least three years of additional training and are qualified to treat the most difficult and complex cases. #3 You’re missing teeth: For those of you who may be missing teeth, the term prostho means replacement and dontist means dealing with teeth. Essentially, prosthodontists are THE recognized experts when anything needs to be replaced in your mouth. (from the American College of Prosthodontists) #4 When you have a complex case that requires several different specialists: Prosthodontists are the recognized specialists for treatment planning and will partner with other providers as needed in order to achieve your best smile. #5 When you want an exceptional smile: Prosthodontists are the dental leaders in cosmetic/esthetic dentistry. #6 Do you feel like your mouth and teeth are changing? Our mouths can often change throughout the years for a number of reasons. It’s very important to diagnose why and treat accordingly. #7 You’ve had an accident: When you’ve suffered a dental accident and you are in need of treatment, a Prosthodontist is often the best place to start.

One of the questions that I get asked a lot by patients and friends is..."so, what exactly is a Prosthodontist? What do you do?" Well, a Prosthodontist is a dentist with advanced training and education in restoration and replacement of teeth. In fact, we have to do at least an additional 3 years of schooling beyond dental school in an ADA-accredited prosthodontic graduate program. I did my Prosthodontics training in NYU before moving to Rochester to do an additional 3 years o...f training at the University of Rochester's Eastman Dental. In all, I did 15 years of education post-high school! But I studied so much because I love what I do. I look forward to going to work each and every day. And seeing the results that I'm able to obtain for my patients...really transforming their smiles and functionality, makes it all worth it. Let me know if I can help you to create your best smile!
