as of this past week, NY has officially banned single use carryout bags. This reduction in plastic is clearly incredibly important for our environment, as about 91% of plastic is not recycled & we've learned that those plastic bags actually fall into the 'unrecyclable' category Not only is plastic harmful for the environment, but also for our personal health. Plastic (particularly bottles) are frequently made with bisphenols (ie BPA) which have been shown to act as endocrine (hormone) disruptors, negatively impacting reproduction and immunity.
