Greenville Drive-In Outdoor Cinema

Leigh and I are starting to build the movie calendar and drink pairings menu for the 2021 Season. We had to keep the Projectionists Club drink list streamlined for the past season, but we are hoping to return to a closer-to-normal selection of offerings next season. Are there particular theme cocktails and/or non-alcoholic festive concoctions you enjoyed and would like to see return for 2021? We're also hoping to have Trading Cards back and with a few new additions from our friends at Gummy Arts.

Leigh and I are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Jeff Breeze of Boston Typewriter Orchestra. Jeff had performed at the Greenville Drive-in several times, most recently in September for our QWERTY festival. We were fortunate to get to know him. He was an intelligent, talented fellow with a deep, abiding passion for music. As a host of the Pipeline! on MITs WMBR, Jeff championed many Boston-area musicians over many years. Our thoughts go out to Jeff’s family and his family at BTO. Fair winds, Jeff, and thank you for your beautiful weird.

Sadly, it’s OFFICIAL. We are now closed for the 2020 Season. We were hoping we could band aid our water supply after the storm damage through one last night this year, but it is not to be. The scourge that is 2020 continues. If you had tickets for Groundhog Day, don’t fret. They will be refunded within 24 hours. As of now, we are operating under the assumption that the world will be at least status quo come spring 2021 so we are tentatively looking at a May 8, 2021 date for... our Annual Season Opening Party. Also, while we understand the tendency to mute our social media in the off-season, please be aware that is when we use our channels to solicit programming & event input, feedback, suggestions and ideas. Generally speaking, our calendar is mostly set for the season by the time we open in May. It’s already taking form now So if you want to be part of the programming conversation or you have an event to stage here, it is best communicating with us in the off-season. If you've been to the Projectionists Club at Greenville's Drive-in 32, then you are likely aware that owner / projectionist / bartender, Dwight Grimm, makes his own bitters and routinely gives talks at the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington D.C. on the subject. In this moment of COVID, the talks have migrated from in-person to an online presentation, making them now open to anyone over the age of 21 in the United States. The first is a do-it-yourself wor...kshop on Saturday, November 7th, though the registration closes on October 23rd so we can mail you the kit. In case you missed yesterday’s announcement, due to a water supply issue requiring an extensive remedy, we are forced to close for the season a few days earlier than planned. Tonight’s screenings of Groundhog Day are cancelled and tickets refunded. We are planning to return May 8th, 2021. We apologize for any inconvenience and thanks for your support this season!

Unfortunately, we have no water supply presently at the drive-in so we must close to the public and tonight’s screening of 2040 is cancelled. At this moment, it does not seem likely the issue will be resolved before Saturday. If that is the case, then obviously anyone who purchased tickets for Groundhog Day will be refunded and sadly this will be the end of the 2020 Season. We will advise tomorrow. No question 2020 has been a tough year and this episode seems par for the course... . . #drivein32

FINAL WEEK OF THE 2020 SEASON! Thursday is the final installment of @basilicahudson Non-Fiction series with a free screening of ‘2040’. Then on Saturday we have a back-to-back-to-back screening of GROUNDHOG DAY, starring Bill Murray. One ticket is good for all three screenings. Did you know... Richard O'Brien was concerned that Meat Loaf might not be able to handle "Hot Patootie - Bless My Soul". O'Brien brought out the music and handed it to him, saying "It's okay to flub a few lines. No one in the London cast has ever sung the whole thing correctly anyway." Did you know.. The order in which Frank turns on the colored spigots while creating Rocky Horror was not random. Each color was being rapidly shouted at Tim Curry by someone off-screen. During the second close-up, a brief look of confusion can be seen on Curry's face as he scrambled to find the right color. Celebrate 45 years since Rocky was born this weekend ...
