COVID 19 UPDATE, 12/13/20: I have a 32-year-old Covid patient on a vent. Please pray for him. Last Friday when I spoke to him, he was doing fine, at home with normal oxygen levels, no lower than 96%. Saturday, out of nowhere he called me. His oxygen level had suddenly dropped to 78 and then down to 70 while I stayed on the phone with him. This BRAVE young man mustered up all of his strength to remain conscious, trusting and listening to my instructions with each breath he too...k, for a full 20 minutes. We called for an ambulance. His cough had been COMPLEATLY DRY. I told him to stay focused, breathe in deeply and slowly, and to intermittently cough very hard and deeply until his cough became wet. He tried and tried, each time telling me that he had no phlegm, adding that he no strength to continue. I was ready to call his family at any moment to enter his bedroom and instruct them to administer CPR. He was quarantined. As time passed, he was barely able to talk. As I listened to his DRY cough, with my encouragement he continued to cough stronger and deeper. After about an agonizing 5-10 minutes for him, for the first time since becoming ill, he felt phlegm and mucus in his chest, I heard a wet cough and he was able to tell me that his oxygen level had rose from 70 to 80, on the clothespin like meter on his finger (pulse oximeter). A few minutes earlier he couldn’t even read the number. His O2 must have dropped far below 70. His deep cough loosened mucus that was blocking his airways (like Drano dissolves a clog in your drain pipe, COUGH IS KEY TO UNPLUGGING THE MUCUS THAT BLOCKS PIPES LEADING DOWN INTO YOUR LUNG. So, if you are Covid positive and become ill, don’t be fooled by a dry cough. ALL SHOULD SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IF YOU TEST COVID POSITIVE, AND ALL SHOULD ASSUME AT THIS TIME THAT ANY UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION IS THE CORONA VIRUS UNTILL TESTED.
