Drumming for Our Veterans 30.03.2021

The Family of Don Friesing has asked me to post the following information.

Drumming for Our Veterans 21.03.2021

On January 14, 2021 at age 94, Mr. Don Friesing passed away. Mr. Friesing was a loving family man and was so loved by family and many dear friends. Having proudly served in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Friesing was most deservedly inducted into the Drumming For Our Veterans Hall of Fame in 2018, as well as, the prestigious Drum Corps World Hall of Fame in 2001. As a child, a very young Donald performed in local pubs in his dad’s dance band. His drum corps drumming career started with...Continue reading

Drumming for Our Veterans 16.03.2021

On January 7, 2017 we launched our first Drumming For our Veterans Benefit which took place in the Massapequa Elks Hall. The Weather was perfect! - - NOT!....T...here was a HUGE Snow storm... And I tell ya it DID NOT stop audience members and performers from 10 states (FL, GA, KY, NJ, PA, CT, NH, NY, MA, NH) from making the event a magical experience. And we gathered to raise awareness of Veterans needs and to raise funds for our Veterans. Everyone involved was a volunteer and ALL the proceeds went to serve Veterans at the VA Hospital. To this day, I am so impressed with the truly, amazing ALL STAR talent that stepped up on their own dime to honor our Veterans. And major props to all the loyal audience members that supported the event. The show continued in 2018, 2019, and 2020 There were challenges with weather, except for 2020 which was a beautiful January spring like day. Each year, everyone involved was just the coolest in the truest meaning of what cool is. So here we are in 2021, and because of COVID 19, we will not gather in January to share our music, friendships, and honor our Veterans. HOWEVER, when it’s safe to do so, we DO intend on holding the 2021, 5th Annual Drumming for Our Veterans Benefit later in this Year. So stay tuned. There is Drumming for Our Veterans Facebook Page. Please like that page for DFOV News. And Please visit and like our Drumming Veterans Hall of Fame facebook page where we honor distinguished Drumming Veterans. - - - - - So I conclude with a big, heartfelt Thank You to all the amazing performers who have played in one of the DFOV Shows as well as everyone who have generously donated or attended the show. (The Audiences for DROV were always incredible.) The picture is my buddy Jack Stein who works diligently and wisely dispersing funds that we raise for Veterans Causes. I am holding a puppy, Henry, who is an in-service training dog, and Jack is holding a check that he presented to Paws of War on behalf of everyone who’s been part of the DFOV Shows. Among other things that we do for Our Veterans, we were able to provide for two service dogs for two deserving Veterans. Definitely these dogs will enrich the lives of these two veterans. - - So, see you down the road, and stay safe. Love and Happy Beats! - Chet See more
