Please stay away from down wires, also do not use a generator inside a garage. Please put it away from your house so the Exhaust does not enter your residence!

Despite having to cancel our public Memorial Day parade and ceremony due to Covid-19, the Centerport Fire Department held a ceremony, using advised social distancing precautions, to honor the men and women of the military that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The Harborfields Marching Band, who usually march with us every year during this time, put together a video honoring those men and women as well. We hope that everyone stays safe and healthy during this time, while taking time to pay tribute to the men and women who have made this country what it is today. Happy Memorial Day!

To our fellow residents: Our department is asking you to please follow these precautions during the COVID-19 outbreak. If you are quarantined (mandatory or self imposed) in your home due to possible or confirmed COVID-19 exposure, PLEASE notify 911 when you call and advise the dispatcher. ... We also ask that you place a sign/note on your front door to alert our firefighters to take infection-prevention precautions before entering your home or business. We need to protect our crews so that they will be able to continue to meet the emergency needs of the community. Elsewhere, there have been entire fire companies quarantined after they have responded to quarantined homes and were not alerted before entering. Those first responders are now unavailable to help anyone for at least 14 days. In our department we cannot afford to have this happen and being VOLUNTEERS we do not want to have to take it home to our families. Thank you for your understanding and God Bless you all....

Do you really have to replace your smoke alarm batteries? Change your clock, change your batteries. Fire safety officials and the Energizer Bunny have been working hard to drum it into us (no pun intended) for years: whether you rent or own, when daylight saving time ends and you turn back the clocks, it’s also a good time to put new batteries in your smoke alarms. Yep, every year, they insist, even if the old ones still have some life in them. And even if you have hardwire...Continue reading
