So I literally laughed out loud when I saw this- as did my whole family. I can definitely laugh at myself and in times like this we sometimes need to laugh to keep from crying. There was that time earlier this year when Josh had a friend over who had a headache and asked for Tylenol. Joshy responded by offering his friend a CBD stick to roll on his forehead (thank you Cousin Gregg Apirian for introducing us to this). We of course asked the child’s parents and they were open a...nd relieved to find a new form of pain relief that was not medication. For us, we are always seeking alternatives. Some of you may look at me like I’m crazy when we talk about meditation, supplements, spirituality, herbs, essential oils and forms of healing that may seem foreign to you. Others are genuinely intrigued and want to learn more. Then there are those I am constantly learning from. We can sit for hours talking about what grounds us, our practices, and share thoughts and ideas on the world around us and within us. We are constantly diving deeper and in that dive we are discovering. Last week, Sasha, Josh and I went to visit our acupuncturist Julie at East End Acupuncture, who I have been going to see for the last 17 years. Every time we leave her office we feel significantly better than before and have a plan about what we can be doing stay strong and healthy. No matter who you are, before laughing off an idea, maybe try to remain open. If you are in a place where what you are doing is not working for you, that openness may lead to a new kind of healing and growth you never thought possible. I am very grateful to all of our doctors and nurses and believe they can be extremely helpful and of course save lives. That being said, I am equally grateful and amazed by our acupuncturists, holistic practitioners, and healers of all kinds. What might seem alternative to some is foundational for others. Many of these practices have been around far longer than our current model of medicine. It has been quite troubling to see how frequently established holistic practitioners are being censored in these last few months. It seems that misinformation is now defined as information that does not support the narrative of main stream media. Many previously well regarded scientists and doctors who have had success with vitamins and supplements in healing COVID-19 patients are being silenced and then discredited. Even the hashtag naturalimmunity has recently been removed from Instagram. As a society we need to begin to question this. If we begin to focus more on healing our bodies from within, looking to healing gifts from nature, taking care of our Earth, and nourishing our souls with what brings joy and peace, we will bring light to this time of darkness and begin to heal the world.
