We frequently post about phone scams because phone scammers are always looking for new ways to take your money. Recently, we have received reports of scammers posing as the FBI and spoofing FBI telephone numbers. Also, it is tax season so scammers may try to pose as the IRS. As always, we are here for our residents and willing to assist in vetting suspicious calls. Remember, law enforcement does not ask anyone to pay to end an investigation or clear a warrant, especially not with gift cards.

Recently, we have received numerous complaints of telephone scams, especially the type where the caller identifies themselves as a member of a law enforcement agency demanding payment to clear a warrant or end an investigation into the person they are calling. Remember, law enforcement will never ask for or demand money or payment from a person with a warrant or that is under investigation. As always, the East Fishkill Police will be happy to assist our residents in determining if a suspicious call is real or fraudulent. If you receive a suspicious call and need help determining if it is fraudulent, please call us at 221-2111.
