New Passenger Walkway in New England! Earlier this year the Portland Jetport installed a new passenger walkway connecting the jet bridge at Gate #11 to three remote hard stands. As traffic increased by double digits, the airport had to come up with a quick solution to gate the aircraft and protect passengers from the overflow apron.... Airport Director, Paul Bradbury turned to East Island Aviation for a quick and economical solution. Having worked with East Island Aviation in the past he knew we were the right choice. Our in-house aircraft planners came up with a fully enclosed passenger walkway that connected the Jet Bridge to all three hard stand parking spots. The walkway incorporates a full floor and is engineered to meet the heavy snow loads typical in the New England States. Currently passengers exit the main corridor across a short walk to the three KCI Ramps but the airport is intending to install three Commute-A-Walk systems to completely protect the passengers to the KCI Ramps later this year. Denver Airport installs Phase II Walkways Early this year the Denver International Airport opened phase II of the A-concourse expansion designated for common use. And just like phase I, Denver International Airport chose East Island Aviation’s fixed and articulating Commute-A-Walk walkway modules to connect and protect passengers to and from the KCI boarding ramps. As the concourse is a ground level facility, Commute-A-Walk was a perfect fit. The walkways are now in ful...l service at Gates A71 through A81. https://www.eiaviation.com//gaylord-national-hotel-commut/ Phase II completed: Gaylord National Hotel gets more Commute-A-Walk In 2017 Ryman Properties, the operator of the Marriott Gaylord National Hotel constructed a beautiful Riverfront Ballroom on the Potomac River.... However, due to fire lane restrictions they were unable to connect the hotel with the ballroom with a fixed structure. As a result the guests going to and from the ballroom were exposed to inclement weather conditions. In addition, the back of house staff had to deal with the same conditions for catering. The Marriott Gaylord National Hotel chose Commute-A-Walk as the portable pedestrian system to solve their problem. Working with their architects, we developed a five section walkway system that inter-connects the hotel and the kitchen to the ballroom with a section to accommodate ADA and physically impaired guests. When the walkway is not needed it is transported to a storage area via custom trailers provided by East Island Aviation. In 2018 East Island Aviation installed the second phase of portable walkways sections and fixed canopies to create this unique solution. And even though the canopies that connect the walkways are static most of the time, we have designed them to also be removable id required.
