Student Spotlight: ECMS Trumpet Ensemble from #Winterfest2020 Our Trumpet ensemble is directed by Wes Nance. Hearing the ensemble in Kodak Hall is a real treat. Tony Kadleck Trumpet Masterclass!!!

Today at 3pm, Tony Kadleck masterclass! Tony is a sought after New York trumpet player. The lit that he has performed & recorded with is ridiculous: Buddy Rich Band, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Barbra Streisand, Luther Vandross, Blood, Sweat & Tears Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, and Celine Dion. Looking forward to learning from his wealth of experience!

Eastman's Jazz Masterclass Series is returning this week! We started these masterclasses last spring when the pandemic hit and have had such amazing artists share their knowledge, experience, and insparition with our students. Student Spotlight: Jonah Kulick from our #Winterfest2020 Showcase recital Jonah studies saxophone with Chisato Eda Marling. He is performing Sonata for Alto Saxophone by Jeanine Rueff for our 7th showcase recital of the school year. This is a difficult piece that allows the performer to showcase both technical and lyrical prowess.... Great job, Jonah!

This week on Eastman@Washington Square: Jazz Trumpet with Clay Jenkins and Justice Freeman Join musicians from Eastman’s Jazz and Contemporary Media Studies Department for lunchtime on October 29th! We will feature faculty members Clay Jenkins on trumpet and Jeff Campbell on bass with Eastman students Justice Freeman on trumpet and Isaiah Keith on drums to round out the combo! Student Spotlight: Zachary Ellis This masked voice performance was amazing! Zachary is performing Pietà Signore by Alessandro Stradella. Zachary studies with professor Karie Templeton and has been studying a variety of courses and ensembles at ECMS since 2013, including piano, jazz, theory, and ensembles! ... We acknowledge that it is particularly difficult for singers and students who play band instruments to contiunue their studies with current instruction restrictions. But we have incredible teachers who are able to guide these students online and in person. The symposium will feature talks and panel discussions on topics relevant to women in the classical music industry. Recognizing cultural influences and legacies through celebrations like Hispanic Heritage Month is great and important, so let’s continue it throughout the year! Rochester’s own WXXI programs two nationally broadcast shows called Concierto and Fiesta: Latin American Music with Elbio Barilari which plays music by Latin American and Spanish composers and musicians that are artistically and historically significant. Concierto airs at 10pm on Tuesdays and Fiesta! at 10pm on Thursdays.
