Launch day for my friend and Columbia MFA classmate Christina Chiu’s novel, Beauty! She is an amazing writer. If it’s daytime it must be time for COVID-home-kindergarten or at best reading-together time. If it’s 4 am it must be wake-up-and-try-to-write-in-the-dark-befor...e-five-year-old-wakes-up-for-endless-hours-attempting-COVID-kindergarten-time. And yes, that’s a cast. Never have surgery before a pandemic unless you want to remove your own stitches! More on that later. For now, holding down the one room COVID-kindergarten/writer’s residency here in my mom’s back house in LA, and so grateful that these are our problems. Thinking of our friends in NY and everyone fighting, and struggling with loss.
