ECU Queens Academy School of Grappling Arts is proud to have 4 of our top Competition Team Warriors competing this weekend at the 2020 Pan Kids IBJJF Jiu Jitsu Championship in Long Beach, California. *ECU Queens Academy School of Grappling Arts* Here are all our kids team awards from the past 6 years. We have had many kids come and go over the years. Only a handful of kids had what it takes to compete. Some kids could handle our program and some couldn't. Some kids were naturally tough and some were soft. Some kids were very athletic and some were not. No matter what, all were special in their own way. Some kids went on to find a different path and succeed and some kids a...re still looking for their path. There were many reasons, excuses and situations for our kids to come and go. But no matter what, whatever team we put out there to compete, that group of kids was always competitive. There were few bad days to forget but mostly good days to cherish. The hard work always paid off and that was the main lesson that was always trying to be taught. As a Professor, mentor, coach and friend it is and always will be my passion to continue this journey on making champions. See more

ECU Queens Academy Intro Judo Class starts today! Tuesday 6pm-7pm (Kids & Teens) Saturdays 11am-12n (Teens & Adults) What is Judo? Judo is a Japanese martia...l art and Olympic sport involving using holds and leverage to submit an opponent. Judo Meaning The word judo can be broken down into two parts: ju meaning gentle, and do meaning way, which together means, gentle way. This judo definition represents one of the martial art’s major concepts, that gentleness controls hardness. Judo History Where did judo originate? Judo was founded in Japan in 1882 by Jigoro Kano. As a youth, Kano was small for his age, weak, and often bullied. Because of this, he began studying jiu jitsu at age 17. He devoted himself to his studies, and in just a few short years, found himself besting his instructor. By that time, Kano had developed his own techniques and philosophy, and the martial art he was practicing had naturally evolved from jiu jitsu into judo.
