I'll be co-teaching a fun online workshop tomorrow evening (Tuesday 6-8pm EST) with a wonderful educator, Jennie Cramer of our local CCE. Reasonable sliding scale options for one and all. Hope to see you there :)
Our good friend Erik at https://bcfnursery.com/ has a bunch of great trees left for sale... Hudson Valley-ish folks folks can reach out to him to find out what he's got left. The trees grown there are beautiful :)
www.edibleacres.org/purchase - If folks are excited for fall dormant planting options, we have updated our inventory for local pickup and shipping. Check out our expanded offerings this year if you are interested in planting more food where you live :)
This could be a great fit for folks with limited space!
Our friends down in VA have some insanely green thumbs! They still have MANY trees needing to find homes, and with their rich soils, warm seasons and thoughtful ways their plants are very large and very healthy. They've got amazing deals on bigger bundles. This could be a great last chance to get a whole orchard to put in this spring!!
https://forms.gle/aA3ZC11yS7qghT1L7 - Local Bare Root Plants... We still have a ton of beautiful sleeping plants after our shipping season and want to help our community fill their lawns, gardens, hedgerows, everywhere with resilient perennial foods! This form lets you order/reserve these plants. We'll then collect, hydrate, wrap and put in a designated place those packages for your pickup. Wrapped in a way where they can sit for a day or two for safety in the shade and then be ready to GROW where you LIVE! Please feel free to share to any local/regional groups and folks. Barter, Trade, Discount, Tithing, etc all available, please just reach out and let us know what you are thinking.
Cold climate super hardy long lived trees... Still available for order.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx0bZZdVpqw - Sharing notes on how our .1 acre front yard has been a source of more eggs than we can eat, more compost than we can keep up with and a system that can run on it's own for quite a while...
Ben comes through with the well thought out lens...
https://youtu.be/Oe5F1lvRtOo - Live session tomorrow (Monday) 7pm EST. Trying to help provide ideas, support, inspiration, nudges, etc to get some real gardening going on this season. This is a time to act in ways to help create resiliency, health and connections with the living world around us, let's do it! Please join us and spread the word!
Very excited to have some unique new genetics to grow this year. @skillcult sent some super late bearing apple scions, unique annual seeds and even saffron crocus. Definitely highly recommend following his Instagram, checking out his YouTube and the amazing offerings he’s got on his website. Thanks so much Steve!!!
Our friend Buzz Ferver of Perfect Circle Farm in VT does some amazing work with chickens and compost. This petition is meant to help support and protect that work. If anyone wants to sign to support, please do so! You can definitely sign the petition being out of state...
https://facebook.com/events/s/lets-garden-day/512925442744521/?ti=as - Next Saturday, March 7th, I'll be presenting an intro to permaculture talk along with some other great speakers. Check out the event link and register if you are interested in coming. Hope to see some folks there :)
https://www.ulule.com/edible-landscapes-food-forest-docume/ - Exciting documentary about food forests... These folks made a really nice short (presented in the link) introducing Martin Crawfords amazing food forest work, and are hoping to make a more robust documentary about this incredibly important field... Hopefully folks get interested, support and spread the word!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RXutVNnygM - Offering up a live question and answer session tomorrow (Sunday) at 6pm EST on youtube. If you have propagation questions please bring them along and I'll try my best to be helpful. For intermediate and advanced gardeners I don't know that I'll have any super new info, but I hope to be helpful to folks just getting started and hitting roadblocks or questions.
https://youtu.be/bzgY8oyQvBk - LIVE question and answer session on all things high tunnels (our inexpensive and easy to build cattle panel types). Also open to talking about our attached greenhouse, cold frames, low tunnel hoops, anything relating to getting a head start on this upcoming growing season. Tomorrow, Sunday the 8th, at 6pm... Hope to see you folks there! :)
