Another news story on our beautiful Cecile's 101st birthday

FOX 40 News WICZ-TV came out to help us celebrate Cecile's 101st birthday yesterday. She's an amazing woman and we're so lucky to have her call Elderwood Village at Vestal her home. Please enjoy the news story below.

Today marked a huge milestone for one of our Residents. Cecile turned 101 years old. Cecile was born in Binghamton in 1919. She graduated from Cortland College with a degree in education in 1940 and married her husband, Stuart, the same year. They raised a son and two daughters. The family now includes 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Cecile taught in the Susquehanna Valley Central School District for 34 years, spending much of that time at Brookside Elementary. She taught many different grades through the years, but says second grade was her favorite. Both teaching and longevity run in her family! Her mom and grandfather were also teachers, and her mother and great-grandfather both lived to be 100. Cecile retired in 1976 and was an active volunteer in her church for many years.
